Seamaster Railmaster 36.2mm - Brochure or Sales Literature?

I think the exclusivity helps it, but I do think it would sell better today.

I touched on it a couple pages ago in more detail so people are welcome to go back but to resummarise, the 36 released in a time period where giant watches were on trend, e.g. Panerais and POs. The Railmaster XXL, which is enormous to the point of absurdity, I think 49 mm, seems to have been quite a bit more popular than the 36. Classic sized watches have come back into popularity in modern times and particular simple dialled field watches seem quite trendy. I have no doubt the Railmaster of the 2000's would have sold much better today, and probably better than the funky dialled third generation series discontinued last year. Would it have been enough to not be discontinued? Dunno.

Regards small watches, I've no regrets about my Railmaster which gets worn most of the time and even took advantage of Grand Seiko's Black Friday promotion to get hold of one of theirs with a 36.5mm case.

They just don't look small when worn. Neither do they look small when worn by my lad who is a fair bit bigger than me.

Far as I'm concerned, low profile in any size watch looks classy .. er and smaller diameter is cool because it makes it look as though you don't care.

However, generally speaking, and same as most of us here I imagine, if you're interested in watches and fancy a chat, doesn't matter what you're wearing. 🙂

Recently I was a bit bored of the look of the Railmaster especially due to seeing them like cattle in a farmer fair waiting for a Prize on CH24,
and I fell upon this ad which cheered me up a bit !😄

I don't think that's crazy at all. It's about what I'd pay for one today, which is why I will never own one. 😀 What's actually crazy is paying $5k (much less $8k or $10k) for a no-date version of the 2504.50 with a different dial.
I have actually chatted to the seller in Norway who was very nice and he sold it for around 6k€ Needless to say anything above that will not sell imo

That's a 39mm😒
Ha! Well done. Came as a notification to me and lazily didn't read it properly. And am pleased it's not the 36.2mm, tbh. 😁

😃No problem! Don't worry I am pretty sure that the 36 will now settle around 5-5,5 K€ (or 6kusd) Has anyone here had his rm serviced recently? if not how do they perform?🤔

A couple of uneventful ones have been and gone, however, Ticking Time Homme just listed a good example for $6200 USD and it sold within 24 hours. Outstanding.

It was also up for $6400 on eBay, but it's listed as ended due to no longer available so it sold via their website, /r/watchexchange or some other forum.

Yes, seen that one too which was in very good condition....so I guess we are now on a 6-6,5k basis for that watch, which is good and legit. (there was also a badly scratched one on ch24 for a few days at 3,5k)....But none of the recently listed ads says anything about service. And service
is a bit of a silent/important issue in watch selling. 🤔

Seen the new railmaster releases? makes me love the 25/2804 even more....black dial is nicer, case thinner in other words it's the real deal.... Maybe the (new) bracelets have some better features

Agree, regards both dial design and thickness.

Lug to lug is decently sized. And should not be more than 11.5mm thick. Sub 11mm, to me, would have made it seem less like a ‘branding’ exercise.

Certainly won’t be rushing to trade in what I already have.

Feels like a branding exercise to me...when a brand realises there is a strong hype for something (although there is not a lot of content about 36 and 39 raily's) they have a look at the social media (which is good in a way)....The desirability for a discontinued watch can't be bought/caught up by new releases... imho

Good spot.

And Eddie Redmayne wore a 'grained dial' 40mm Co-Ax version in the recent Sky version of Day of the Jackal.

Cool.

A good choice Mr Cillian

Fun fact, he bought this new back when they were in production, and he's been wearing it regularly ever since, there are shitloads of photos of him wearing it. He was way ahead of the curve on this one. Very cool that he's stuck with it for so long, he must genuinely love it - and rightly so.

Here it is at the Oppenheimer premiere:

And here's a photo from 2011:

I should say, I had no idea about this when I bought mine. 😜 But when I found out he had one on an Insta post about Oppenheimer, I did do a little Google fu to try and work out how long he'd had it.

Interesting! a man of taste, I notice he went for the leather , when today most people would consider the bracelet more "manly", more ostentatious.

Just picked up a RM36 complete set for what I’d consider a fair price at 5600. I had the Aqua Terra Guass model at 42mm and it t wore like a dinner plate. The lug size on this case wears big!! Sold it and picked up a 36mm AT 2504.70 that’s currently being serviced by Omega. This was a limited edition that was only sold in the Japanese market and I think only 1500 were produced. I’m still amazed that the value on this one hasn’t skyrocketed like the RM36 seeing that the case is the same size .

What caught my eye with the 36RM is how it harkens back to the vintage Omega military dials and how similar it looks like the Explorer. I already have the Explorer II and really didn’t feel the need to add another one. The RM36 has a classic style that I think will remain popular for a long time. The 36 case is perfect. I felt that the 39 dial was too spread out.

Does anyone know what lume was used on the RM36?
Hi there, should be superluminova considering period . I like the green colour that's light enough to be seen as white from a distance. Congrats for your new acquisition👍 (was it the one on C24?) 5600 is not a bad price considering it's demand today, although I remember days when some examples were sold around 3,5k in 2021/2023. I also had a 39 for years before realising the dial (33mm) was too big😲
