Hi! looks perfectly legit to me...
I have seen some fake on some websites but they really look like fakes...
As per the movement details (and all the rest) yours is 100% original imo
Fantastic - thanks for your opinion. Appreciate it!

Update: Thanks for your POV - I went ahead and acquired this albeit in fair condition and without box and papers. From 2006 with a 2403 B movement, and showing its age with some corrosion on the hands. On the whole, super-happy.

Hi! thanks for your reply. Congrats for your purchase, hope you did not pay too much . Maybe one day you will send it for a service and light polish In any case I'm sure this watch will hold its value at least as well as an Explorer. Maybe you should put it on a vintage leather馃槣
(btw how is it running?)

Thanks! Surprisingly, it's running better than I expected, +3 to 6 seconds per day measured on an app but only in a few positions. So, I'll probably delay a service for now. Honestly, I was expecting worse, as it was for sale at a 'to-good-to-be-true' price. Managed to meet the dealer, inspect the watch, and buy below market rate. Thanks for the strap recommendation.

That's good news, also it does't look too battered on your latest photo.
I am indeed a fan of leather or alligator on this reference although the bracelet does look good but I find it a bit too chunky.
I will post on another thread something about non-authentic bracelets because I bought one on Ebay which I think is a fake (a very good fake
by the way) due to quality of engravings ...

Actually, the lighting and angle in my latest photo hides a lot of the flaws seen in the previous macro shots. Like you mentioned, a light polish might do the job, although I'm warming to the charm of its nicks and scratches. It came on a non OEM alligator, which needs replacing, and have the original clasp. However, it does look good on the bracelet so an OEM one might be a possible future purchase. Although, I have seen it pictured on a 19mm Uncle US1171, which looks good too, but the clasp is putting me off. Looks like I'll go for a premium canvas strap for now. Let me know your eBay recommendations as I'll be interested in checking them out too. Thanks.

If you consider that it is essentially a tool watch oriented Aqua Terra, nicks and scratches are how it's meant to look. Lean into it, it's meant to be worn this way.

Thanks - I'm definitely starting to embrace it's ruggedness!

Hi frantic, well basically the engravings on the clasp were not laser done and the 899 on the endlinks were not in the middle but in the corner as old rolex bracelets. However the links themselves were astonishingly very good which made me hesitate. If anyone has some info, don't hesitate. Also if you're looking for an example it seems the german seller luxus-friendly has an authentic (but missing links) (the last photo with the cushion is an authentic from my former aqua terra, the engravings are perfect)

Great, thanks for the info - this is real helpful! I now know what to look for when the time is right. Cheers

The second generation Railmaster was likely announced at 2003 Baselworld as part of the overall launch of the Aqua Terra line. However, it initially released in 39.2mm and 41mm references, on bracelet (x.52.00), black alligator (x.52.31) or brown alligator (x.52.37). The 36.2mm references appear at some point years later in the run. I don't know what year but definitely 2007 or earlier since my 2504.52 is a 2007 serial. Also, by the time of the 36mm release Omega had dropped the black alligator option so there is no 2804.52.31. I believe all three automatic sizes were discontinued in 2012, but the Railmaster XXL 49.2mm continued for a while longer.

Additionally, there has never been a report of a 36mm with a 2403(A) movement, they all seem to have 2403Bs which would further corroborate the later release. My 2403.52 is a 2007 serial and has the B movement, for example. I think the B revision appears around 2005 at the latest.

So I would say the 36.2 mm Railmaster probably released around 2005-2007? But if you figure it out, please share. 馃榾

Finally just for fun, there were at least 19 different variants of the second generation Railmaster. Ghost of Gerald Genta has a good article where he lists most of them, but he misses all of the chronograph models, and several strap variants and XXL models. The most interesting IMO is the 39mm yellow gold variant, ref 2103.52.00. You can find it on Omega's website but there are almost no photos of it in the wild so it must be exceptionally rare.

Damn, you learn something new everyday. I bought the 220.10.40.20.01.001 Railmaster when I started working as an engineer in the rail industry, perhaps I'll try and find this full gold one when retiring 馃榾

I've generally been seeing them go for about $5000 USD lately, or 4500 EUR so yeah that Watchcharts chart seems about right. Definite trend upwards.
