Thank you for the info. Unfortunately the actual information may sound optimistic, but in reality it's worrying for Android users; no app store, means no real smartwatch functionality; No Wear OS most likely means no possibility to manage your notifications, like answering from the wrist. No extra apps means that probably the possibility to pay from your wrist is gone. It means no sharing of wellness information with basic wellness apps like Google Fit and by extension to Health Connect that syncs your stats with other wellness apps. You mention that TAG Heuer said that there would be no loss of functionality for Android users, but I am afraid that this translates to "you can still connect the E5 to an Android". However if there is no digital wallet, actionable notifications and app store, there is a huge loss of functionality for Android users. I think the situation is better for iPhone users, not because they will have any additional functionality in comparison to the E4, but because the E4 was already so limited with iPhone. However even for iPhone users, I'm really worried that the loss of a proper OS may mean lack of OS fitness, like animated UX elements, meaningful security updates etc. I hope I'm completely wrong and TAG has managed somehow to cover all basics, but I seriously doubt it.
I owned all four previous generations of the Connected, but it seems that my tenure with the brand comes to a close.
This is why I mention the E5 being strip back in terms of apps...

I didn't mention New balance because I wasn't sure if it was under embargo but since it s out...I think
It seems Tag Heuer is targeting a new audience, positioning itself as a smart watch for professionals, athletes , trainers, health conscious type without the frills (a huge gamble I think)

New Balance band.
Thank you very much for the pictures !

So it seems that are now using the E4 42mm design all across the range... probably to avoid the bezel or the rubber cap from falling off ! 馃ぃ

Do you have a picture of the metal band ?

To be honest, I have used an Apple Watch since 2016 and never downloaded a single app... The included apps/functions already makes it a smartwatch... + notifications from every single app from the phone...

I use on a daily basis Google Keep to check my shopping list from my wrist, Google Pay from my wrist and occasionally Google Maps. Sometimes I also answer briefly to my messages from my watch. A smartwatch that doesn't include these functions, be it apps from the app store or pre installed, is practically useless to me.

Payment app from the wrist and solid notifications is not "frills" for me, it's basic smartwatch function. For fitness tracking, without the rest of the smartwatch functions, I need a smartband, not a heavy and expensive stainless steel watch. So, for me this is not just a gamble, it's a wrong product. Or a disposable fitness device for Arab oil magnates.

40 mm will be available in black titanium, FYI. Not just the 45 mm.

*No 3rd party Apps like WatchMaker.
I feared this loss, but this is confirmation of very bad news... 馃槒

I hope my E2s last me many years 馃馃徏, as I don't plan on exchanging them for E5. The only good news is that it may be possible to pair an E2 (or an E1, E3, E4) and an E5 with the same iPhone at the same time, while it is not possible to pair two Wear OS smartwatches to the same iPhone.

Since it won't be possible to use WatchMaker watch faces with E5, I hope that the factory-installed watch faces, which are the only ones that can be used, have鈥攅ven as an option in the settings鈥攁 fully detailed, full-colour dim mode like in bright mode (although with a dimmer brightness, of course), and not the overly simplified dim modes that most official watch faces have featured so far.

In any case, thank you very much Anthony for this information advance! 馃憤馃徏

Isn鈥檛 this market already sewn up, and a much lower price point?

Maps and wallet were the biggest omission and I felt was a mistake (maybe they are working on having a suitable replacement)

none of those wellness feature really appeals to me so

I am learning the world of luxury makes no sense... personally I feel it is an unnecessary gamble but I am not the one getting big bucks and doing market research...

Just confirmed that E5 will not have the option to do Mobile payments from watch.

Health metrics can be shared to Apple health and Strava.

No Wallet feature also.

It seems like they are solely focusing on sports and wellness going forward.

Unfortunately they didn't focus consciously on sports and wellness, they just had no good options left; Apple will not open their walled garden, and Google lost interest in trying to convince Apple to open up. So in reality TAG Heuer lost access to a proper wearable OS. Apple Watch and Pixel Watch don't have to focus on a specific area, they offer top tier fitness tracking but also great notification control, payment system, smart home integration and more. TAG Heuer is reduced to a fitness band with a fancy design.
I'd love to send a letter to Tim Apple and thank him for ruining a beautiful smartwatch for me.
Thankfully the new Pixel Watch 4 is also great (it's basically the smart version of a Ressence Type 3. They even have a similar watch face for a complete Ressence look).

The watch on his wrist looks so much more intricate compared to literally E4 with New Balance logo on it LMAO

And how come 3K (probably) watch goes with cheap sport brand selling trainers for 50 quid on ASOS? hahaha

I'm sticking to my E3 what a waste of two generations oh

E2 introduced a collab with ALEC MONOPOLY, DUBAI, KINGSMAN... 2025, with NEW BALANCE..... is this a downgrade or something ?

I think it has more to do with brand awareness for their new intended audience... It actually makes more sense to partner with an athletic brand(Nike or Adidas might have made more impact but new balance is gaining momentum)

The NB smart watch is limited or special edition(I can't recall) and I think will be sold at new balance stores as well similar to the Kith Heuer.

Who knows maybe Tag Heuer knows what they are doing and their smart watch becomes synonymous with sport.,

I won't call the new E5 a downgrade...I am just not the intended audience but I hope it does well because it literally puts money in my pocket

NB is known for its 574 dad's shoe. Its a street brand.

I'm struggling to see a good fit with "avant-garde" at 3K+. Such marketing is out of touch tbh

Compare this:

to this at 1.9K (design and build quality):

And marqs will likely be cheaper.

For the fun cool like NB logo stuff I would rather prefer Swatch Moonswatch at 拢280.

To be fair, NB did have a little resurgence and are trying to break away from the 'dad shoe' image.

The watch is not for me but I can see it gaining some traction

Imagine straps matching color way for new footwear...personally not a sneaker head or hype beast but people have latch on to crazier marketing

I was not a fan of the Malbon connected, the price or the design but they sold well and fast--

I am learning more and more luxury doesn't make sense...

Don't mind me sounding like an E5 apologist, jury is still out on if this will be a huge success or not but it is not for me...not big on fitness/wellness, love customizing and even if I never use an app I like knowing if I had to it's there to be utilized
