Anyone else remember when a new member's first post was a polite "Hello", followed by maybe a short introduction about themselves and perhaps a few nice watch pictures?

Easy guys. If we don't meet our quota of n00bs asking this question each month we'll go into deficit.

And also if we are not careful, we might end up like the wizened old cynics of another forum...who dont have any friends but they do have a perfect diving watch, that may or may not make them look fat

But his username is so easy to remember! And clever too!

Can we keep him?

Please?

How do I get sufficient privileges to post in private watch sales

Hello there... Numerical Pete... Yes that has a nice ring to it...

You need to stick around a bit - 200 post minimum, and then you get to sell stuff.

Couldn't he just have combined some easier digits to remember like Jenny's phone number plus Princess Leia's detention cell number? 86753092187 would be easy to remember for the average fat old cynic around here.

stick·y

/ˈstikē/

noun

1. (on an Internet message board) a thread containing important information that is set to remain at the top of the other threads regardless of when it was last updated. It's purpose is to try to keep n00bs from making asses of themselves by creating threads asking about the same important information that's contained in said sticky.

Post a sufficient number of times (200), or have sufficient feedback from other watch forums or eBay.

Is that sufficient?

No, it means that you have done enough business as a seller on eBay to convince the Mod-in-Charge that you will deliver merchandise and are not a scammer.

We take that into account if you wish to become a seller on Omega Forums.

Greetings to the new member.

I have a question for everyone, what do you think is the reason for people not saying "hello", "thank you"?
Is it a deficiency of education at home? Parents not teaching kids basic rules of civility? I wonder if the same happens the same way in all countries or if there are cultural differences...
(Sorry new member, I'm hijacking your thread but it's not as if the initial discussion or introduction had such high value).
Cheers,
S

I think it is a combination of a number of things, starting with cultural differences, English being a second (or third or fourth) language and ending with the "Twitter-verse", where you have only 140 characters to bare your mortal soul.

At that length, certain civilities get lost.
