Tried it with the navy blue strap.
It's not bad. But the blue color mismatch kind of bugs me, so I switched back to the black strap.

As with most pre-owned F1s, the previous owner had cut the strap. I've always loathed the unprofessional look of the raw cut ends on these OG F1 straps. Hence, I spent the evening carefully sanding and filing the strap end to get it more to my liking. I think it turned out rather well.

Was planning on an orangish watch for the next coupla days. But then this arrived in the mail yesterday. A no black, no PVC, no day, no Pasadena, uh Pasadena with ref. 750.501-3
I think it’s in nearly NOS condition although the chrono second timer hand has most of it’s orange faded away. I’m not sure about the bracelet either, as it isn’t stamped Heuer or even Swiss Made. But it’s certainly a perfect match and overall I’m happy to add it to my collection!

An additional follow up. I was able to find an alternative blue strap that is closer to the case color. It better mimics the look of Piquet's watch, compared to the dark navy blue strap. (But it's not an exact match, IRL the difference is more noticeable.)
