Thoughts on a dirty dozen omega

I've been lurking around here and leaning more and more, and I want to add a watch to my (meager) collection that will hold it's value or better. The dirty dozen Omega seems to fit the bill on several key things: Omega heritage, military heritage, low supply, high demand, looks real good... I'd appreciate thoughts on that idea, and on the seller's pics below of what looks like a very nice piece listed online for $2500. This might not be the one, but I'd like to know as much as I can when the real thing comes along. Thanks!

Wow- good eye!! I wouldn’t have seen the missing regularly unless it was pointed out.

Love the Dirty Dozen. I have the Smiths reissue by Ernie Platts, although it’s not the real thing, it is a joy to wear, and one of the most instantly readable watches I own. I would love to own one of the real ones when I become a real boy one day

. Sometimes if you find the right watch you can have that rare desired piece if you're willing to spend time finding the parts to bring it back up to top shape, I've done it a few times now, but the search can be long and expensive.

More importantly, you asked her before you bought a project watch. Take your time, learn a lot here and bide your time. Your watch is out there...

Also, it has had its fixed bars removed and spring bars installed (poorly).

Yeah it’s a mess. You can get really nice examples for less than $2000 with not too much effort.

I saw something there. It looks like they're actually poking through the lugs.

That’s a great catch... I think there was a queue chasing that one 👍

For the OP it’s not just MWR that has great examples of these from time to time, the Omega WWW was produced in high volume (at least relative to other watches in the dirty dozen) and if you keep an eye on eBay you’ll likely find a nice one within a month.

The regulator is present. It has the same coating as the bridge, so is hard to see. Look for the tip crossing the A-R line.

Good catch- however it is at the very least grossly overpriced IMHO, considering the horrid white hand relumed and the damage on the numerals.

On another note, Smiths watches are nice but not part of the Dirty Dozen.

It's the ultra rare camo regulator! That will teach me not to check these things out on the crappy little I pad.

The dirty dozen is a great watch...
Maybe not this particular one but (and despite the 35mm small size) it looks great on the wrist and vey legible
