Hi all,
Just bought this Omega Dirty Dozen. The watch is supposed to be fully original. If you have any thoughts about it, and you can date it as well, I am interested !
Thanks !

Dial maybe looks water damaged so I wonder about the movement. Can’t recall immediately if there’s a fixed range for these. Also second hand is wrong, looks more like a Lemania or Grana as there’s no counterpoise. What have you found ?

Normally better to ask before buying !

Can you give a clue about the cost ? Obviously the combination of originality, condition and price will dictate whether it was a good buy or not.

I have bought a lot of watches to my watchmaker, I trust him and I made some really interesting buys 😀 and I can give it back if I don't want it so that's not a problem. I just like to get as much information as possible on the watch. I bought it 3000€, from what I have seen, it's expensive, but I don't know if this model is full original and has something different, maybe it's worth this price.

@OP ~25,000 Omega WWW originally produced - certainly rare, but one can guarantee that your diligence and patience will be handsomely rewarded by holding out for a nice example!

PS dibsies if you come across a nice Grana WWW in your Omega quest

I think 3000€ is a lot... it might even be a record. Within that budget you should be able to get an absolutely beautiful and completely original example. I suppose there may be good value to stay at the top of your watchmaker’s list but that’s a decision for you.

As a quick example, here are two that sold at the last WOK auction. I wouldn’t describe them as cheap and even the more expensive went a fair bit under 3000€.

I tried what I was told was a Dirty Dozen on in Somlo about a year ago. It was £3,000 or £3,500. I don't know whether there are multiple versions, and I don't remember it that well, but maybe others more knowledgeable can draw a conclusion from that information.

My conclusion would be don’t buy a dirty dozen Omega from there 😲

I've been watching Dirty Dozens on a few auction sites for the past few months and the majority are going between 1200-2000 GBP, but they're in much better condition than this one. Sorry.

Thanks ! Well, it's probably very expensive. But I am also very doubtful when I see 70 years old watches that look brand new. Quite several watchmakers told me that probably more than 50% of the watches sold with a black dial have a repainted dial.

Perhaps, but the specific wear and tear that one displays is more than just patina. The movement looks clean on the surface, but no idea what it looks like deeper in. But hey, I love vintage watches for the story they tell, not because they're pristine. I hope that one came with a good story as well, or maybe that's the next part of your journey with it, to find out where it's been.

I understand your point for sure, I can't tell about the movement 😀 And for the story, well, I don't think I will keep the watch.

This nice MOD dial sold on MWR for under $1600 just a week ago. You can see what the fixed bars should look like.

On the wrist...

... and fixed bars

A pure delight to be honest 😀

@Ludi I’m trying to figure out if there’s enough information in your pictures to work out your regular coffee spot. I can see snippets of the menu, distinctive cups, and perhaps a partial web address on the sugar sachet. I’m getting there, and as soon as I’ve worked it out I’ll be ready to ambush you next time you place a tasty watch on the table. One hit over the head with a Perrier bottle and I’ll be off 😁
