Hi everybody!
Having a clear out and came across my WH 5143 6000 gold from way back in 2002.Last one out of the factory according to the dealer I ordered it from here in Budapest.
It has hardly been worn and has all documents and presentation box(even the box for the presentation box).
Can any Tag fans on this forum give me an approximate valuation?
It is the 208 gram 39mm model.
Any comments appreciated.
John Hindle.

That does not look like the solid gold 6000 WH5143. It should be a white dial with a solid gold case & bracelet, as shown here in the '95 TAG Heuer catalogue.

I ordered the watch with a blue dial as I had seen one on a friend of mine. The factory sent the white dial with the watch if I wanted to change back at a later date-but I like the blue better. You can see the spare white dial in the photos.Definitely original. It was bought from Tag Heuer main dealer here in Budapest and has all relevant documentation and cards.

Yes, I saw the original white dial in your photos.

However, what concerns me is that your watch looks stainless steel, not solid 18k gold. The solid gold case & bracelet should look like this.

Yes it is exactly the same as in this photo and weighs exactly right.I had it serviced in 2018 in Spain at a TAG service shop so believe me it is not fake. The photos are from 2018.Here is one from today.I am putting it on Chrono 24 so I just wanted an idea of the value.

I'm not saying it's fake. It looks like an authentic 6000, just not solid gold. In that last photo, it looks like you're shining yellow light on it, as the background cloth is also reflecting yellow.

The box and papers look correct for the gold 6000. However, in your original pics, it really looks stainless steel.

Wow, that's weird. I thought the same as Mspeedster. But when I went back and looked at your original photos I can see that it is gold.

I tried one of these on a few years ago and they were asking about £6500 IIRC

Thanks.I think it is probably worth more as scrap at the moment.

Maybe, but that would be an act of supreme vandalism.

GLWS. There's one similar to yours on Chrono24, asking $20k USD.

The gold finish on these is very strange. I don't know if it's just patina, but it's not what I'd expect to see on a solid gold watch, even one of this age.
Wow.That is noticably worse condition than mine.I am sure it wont be easy to sell like a Rolex but you never know your luck.Gold is off the scale at the moment so I could get lucky.Scrap is around $16k.Thanks.

Wow, scrap is $16k.... that makes it a lot harder. But, when you think a modern gold Carrera is like £19k without a bracelet...

This is a photo of the watch I tried on in AMJ Watches store.

That doesn't even do it justice honestly, much nicer in person.

They were asking £7000 in 2019.
Gold is at a record high, currently worth about 3x the 2019 price per gram. So the math just for scrap is about right.

I see many old 6000s parted out with their solid gold insert pieces removed, the gold being worth more than trying to sell the watch. Sad, but it is what it is.

Precisely my reason for selling it at the moment.I will be going round the gold merchants here this week and getting quotes-should be interesting!

Keep us posted, curious to see what you get for it.

Although, I'm still quite perplexed as to why your watch looks silver color in many photos, even the picture you shared of the clasp looks silver.

Also, the one for sale on Chrono24 has a funny quasi silvery gold finish, almost like it was gold plated, and the plating rubbed off in parts.
To my knowledge, 18k yellow gold should not change color like that.
