The watch I tried on was very matt in appearance, looks like these have been polished?

The one for sale on Chrono24 looks like it was definitely polished in places. But that shouldn't change 18kt solid yellow gold to a silvery looking color finish. Makes me wonder if something weird is happening with the gold mixture used on certain gold 6000s.

The OP's watch doesn't look polished, but I'm still puzzled by the color of the metal. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's the camera, but it's not what I'd expect. All the other pictures I've seen of solid 18kt yellow gold watches, including gold 6000s, look "gold".

Hello everyone

I was already considering selling my two 6000s.
The price of gold has since risen so much that I could get over €20,000 for both watches at our gold refinery.
My only problem with the whole thing is that I've been monitoring the market for years and haven't found any watches in the condition mine are in.
It would be a crime to have these watches melted down just for their gold value.
On the other hand, there are hardly any buyers for such a high-quality watch.
People would rather spend many times more on a hyped-up steel watch with minimal material value.
Can anyone understand the logic?
That's why I kept my two watches for the time being and didn't offer them for sale online.
I only offered them here in the forum.
But of course, the price is no longer right. My watches are unpolished.
I wouldn't part with these two treasures for less than €24,000.
And the price of gold will continue to rise.

It's all about being able to flash with what the outside world desires, these 6000's are not desirable.

I wish I could afford to buy them, they are stunning. And yes, it would be a crime to melt them down, but, at the same time totally understandable.

Melting it down would only be an option if I had nothing left to eat. 😀
I even went to the trouble of restoring both inner parts of the packaging.

Well I hope you find the one beholder to take them off your hands. Might be very difficult, as like you said:

I'm not really looking, otherwise I would have listed the watches at Chrono. When I pick up the watches and think about how quickly the money would be gone again...

Wow, impressive! Kudos! 👍

Isn't it sad that these old TAG Heuer boxes self-deteriorate with age? My 6000 Senna box isn't too bad but it's starting to flake in parts. Hence, I put the 6000 box/case in my bank's safe box in the hopes that being in a constantly airconditioned environment will slow the aging/deterioration.

But since I don't have the box at home with the watch, my solution was to make my own custom Senna box.

I used to restore cars, and that was still material!
Today, many plastic parts are coated with a substance that behaves exactly like the Tag Heuer boxes.
The paint becomes crumbly and sticky.
I get that with all my 6000 packaging.
But I've only restored the ones for the gold watches.
