Agree, it's almost like a totally new model.
One thing we have not seen yet is how the crown guards work with such an angular new case design....

With Sora being able to convincingly generate anything these days I remain skeptical about any media not provided via official channels ;-)

Your AI detector needs some tuning, you can still tell when media is AI generated. This video is not, it is unquestionably real.

The more I think about it, the more I think this release is hot trash. The lugs are awful. Someone upthread said they look like a Grand Seiko or a Zenith Defy. That's it. And I dislike both of those.

There was nothing wrong with the traditional twisted lugs. If they wanted to transition from an asymmetrical case to a symmetrical case, like the current generation of the Aqua Terra did, I would be fine with that. But to produce this angular and chopped off look--truly dreadful.

They had one good idea--make the case thinner. Then the designers apparently used a large amount of hallucinogenic drugs and changed a bunch of other things too.

I shouldn't complain though. I have plenty of nice watches and really don't need any more. But I can always be tempted with something new and sexy. This ain't it.

Suddenly everyone loves the same HE valve that was hated and demanded to be eliminated for years.😁

There are lots of existing Planet Oceans. If people like the old look so much, they have a plethora to choose from. This new model will speak to people who hated the old look. I'm not going to buy it, but it is an improvement imo.

I don't think anyone has switched sides because of this release. The HE valve has always been a polarizing issue and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Not me! I always wanted the Seamasters to keep the HEV. To me that's what helps separate an Omega diver from other brands.

Everyone knows what the problem with the old PO's was--they were too damn thick. No one complained about the lugs or the overall look (apart from thickness). Omega fixed one thing, and then broke several others.

Edit - Actually I don't know if they fixed the thickness. It's thinner, but how much thinner I can't really tell.

Me too. At least the HE valves of my Planet Ocean 2500 and my SMP300m are not going anywhere.

Yea, My observation was just to have a bit of fun, not supposed to be accurate.

Do they still have 600m ? Not that I will ever go there but it’s PO heritage
Any idea about the prices?
Yes 600M. Around the same price as the White Speedy Moonwatch.

It's about 14mm. So a good 2mm slimmer at least.

I think that most people grew accustomed to have it there, and now it just looks weird without.

Me, I have come to accept it as part of the design. The only one I seriously dislike is the one on the current 300M diver. It looks like the cap from a toothpaste tube to me....

My first reaction seeing that the He valve was gone was “man, the OFicionados are gonna hate this.” But good to remember that we represent a vanishingly small portion of Omega’s customer base.

I for one am celebrating its demise and don’t lament the change to the lugs, even though I do like the lyre style. I’m betting that this will be an attractive piece to the off-the-street Omega buyer.

From my conversations with Omega, they removed the HEV not because some people thought it was ugly, but because they have redesigned the case in a way that Helium gas can escape during saturation diving without the need for a HEV anymore. If there's no function for a HEV anymore then logically it would be better to remove it.

That's a relief! I was afraid I would have to stop saturation diving once I buy the new PO.

Suddenly everyone loves the same HE valve that was hated and demanded to be eliminated for years.😁

If it's any consolation, I've never really cared either way. 😜

I like it because of the history and the identity, but it's functionally useless for me and 99.9% of other owners. If they got rid of it on the next gen SMP, I'd go "Oh that's a shame" and then move on to complaining about how the Bond bracelet still isn't tapered.
