Of course everyone is entitled to their own aesthetic preferences, but I very much like well-executed dedications, and they can add so much to the history of the watch.

The day I saw this thread, coincidentally a Chronostop came up for a great price, engraved as well! Purchased from the son of the original owner who's children didn't want it. Seems a shame really.

I have this on a virtually unidentifiable Mohawk Watch Co. watch. It was from an aunt I never met to an uncle I never met for Christmas just before he shipped off to Europe during WW2. It came home in a personal effects box, the uncle is still buried in France. My mom says that box went unopened for many years. I know it is hard to read "Always Yours Olga 12.25.42"

the dial is searching as am I. Searching for the missing Seconds bits. Once I find them I can get a crystal and put this family piece into occasional service.

I love stuff like this. Largely because its part of the history of the watch it's self and as the poster above put it, some people worked more than 20 years for a special gift. To erase that erases history in my view.

Picked this up on Ebay a few years back...

no idea who Andy is or was, but he was quite lucky getting this for only his 10th anniversary - I got a bit of glass from my employer 😀
