That's exactly it, once its done, the watchmaker typically gives it a 1 year warranty and the clock is effectively reset on it. After that rebuild, regular normal lubrication and simple maintenance should keep it on track for decades to come.

Hello again... guys thanks for all the advise, the watch is with this guy, £200 but promised to clean the whole watch and he might have a new crystal lying around somewhere...

Other question, does anybody know, who sells dials NOS, or otherwise? A friend saw my watch and realised, his father has got one in a drawer, battered but with a fine movement, and asked me, if I knew, who is selling new dials for them. I said, somebody might do a repainting job, but he wanted the genuine thing (since the watch comes to him free of charge). I had a look on ofrei, cousins, ebay, forums, google, nothing seemed to have resulted in anything. Is it just me, or nobody is selling them anymore?

Omega SA = the mothership, its the full name for the Omega watch company, they have service centers everywhere that can restore watches to their original condition, and Omega Bienne in Switzerland seem to have a huge supply of everything.

Hello everybody again...

My watch is back from repairs, new glass, case re-grinded, cleaned, all sorts. It cost me quite a bit more I first thought I'm going to art with but the results are speaking for themselves. So this is just a bit of a catch up by airing my fetish with some fresh pictures, also a repeated big thanks to everybody helping earlier. The last picture is just a funny one of the impromptu studio I built in the kitchen of the watchmaker for these shots (as he has got the tools and the expertise to handle the internal bits of the watch)

Yes, the white box is a great one, two A4 sheets as side-panels and an old watch advert as background paper 😁 The light stand is a cool one as well, ehehe

Thank you... he better have done charging me as much as he have. Well, the watch is reliable, not rattling in the case and apparently is as clean as possible. And it is keeping a lot better time for sure 😀 The guy said I could in theory assume it is waterproof again but I would not try my luck. The only problem being now, I started to fancy the blue dialed bulls eye ones (as well). Hopefully this won't lead to a fully blown addiction costing me an arm and a leg 😁

You'll want more watches, and more lenses and lights to photograph them with... Perhaps even a D4, or something medium-format? 😁

Of course, we'll only encourage and fuel your addiction.

I figured that was the case. There's a fair share of dark and blurry photos on watch forums. Seeing anything lit up decently makes me smile every time.
