I shall continue to beat my drum, Japanese watch/Seiko sub forum please? In UG speak if I could buy any UG right this moment it would be a blue dial Polerouter by a long shot

I wonder if the OP has noticed that the UG forum has more posts than any other "OTHER WATCH BRANDS" forum. Lots of interest, expertise ... and watches!

Universal Genve has a history of making in house chronograph movements of very high quality. There are famous and infamous people who have worn and owned them. Harry S Truman, Hermann Goering, model Nina Rindt,
and Rock and Roll legend Eric Clapton. I guess my question is why question ? Look at the threads ? Ask what about Invicta ? Not in the same league as far as history and quality.

Because universal is the rockstar that died too soon. Think legends like Kurt Cobain/ Marley/ Hendrix. Left a legacy in its wake. There has never been a brand like it and probably never will be again.

There was passion from the community and that's justification enough for us

I think people who "Get" UG, really love UG. and the fact that it "essentially" no longer exist means that information is scarce and enthusiast need a place to talk shop.

You have this model?

I bought one of the stainless quartz variants in a moment of weakness last year - my job takes me to some interesting parts of the world and I wanted a beater UG where I wouldn't be too upset if somebody tried to take it off my wrist. It's been sat in a drawer since then but I actually got around to sending it to the watchmaker a couple of weeks ago. On the bracelet it's a bloody heavy thing.

I can't at the moment because it's not back with me yet but it is imminent. It probably deserves it's own thread once it's here. One nice feature is that, unless I'm very much mistaken, it has a central minutes chrono register like the Lemania 5100. TBH, if I hadn't noticed this detail it might have gone back in the drawer.

Will this thread precipitate a barrage of questions as to why there is not a forum for countless numbers of other watch brands such as appear in the Other Watch Brands Forum. Doxa, Tissot, IWC, Bulova, Concord, Mont Blanc, Corum, Rado, Baum & Mercer, Tudor, etc. etc. etc. Let鈥檚 hope not.
