Hi All,

I just discovered and registered for OF today. I'm brand new to the world of higher end watches, and am really enjoying learning about everything. I've fallen completely in love with Omega watches, particularly the Speedmaster professional, and can't wait to land my first one. As a new guy, I really appreciate the time the senior members have taken to post all the info, I'm finding it very helpful.

thanks for having me

Welcome.

I was in the same situation 5 years ago. My first "hi end" watch was a 3572.50. The more you hang out, the more you learn. It is a wonderful community filled with those that share their wealth of information.

Thanks everyone - and bonus points to Zuke for picking up on the cigar reference in my alias/avatar. Cigars were my first passion (homebrewing/beer judging, straight razors/honing are the others). My current watch collection is slim: a Diesel fashion watch that was a very early gift from my wife so it is quite sentimental, a Seiko quartz chrono (SNAF49), and the infamous Casio Duro (MDV106). The next addition will be the Omega Speedmaster when I find the right listing, and I'm super excited about it. It will likely be the watch I hand down to my first born, who is due to arrive in September of this year!

I'm working on my art of straight razor honing. Except that I can't be as fancy as I'd want with it because my facial hair growth is limited by my employer.

Keep an eye on the sales listings here and I'm sure you will find the right listing sooner than you realize

Welcome from northern California!

FYI, it seems there are a bunch of us on here who are either about to have a baby (my third boy, due early May!) or just had a baby and... we all must be drinking the same well water since it's (mostly? all?) Speedmasters, planned as future gifts to the rugrats in question. Love it! (Though I'm feeling just slightly less original! 馃槈 )

So you're in good company here, and I hope the distraction gives you some duck-and-cover during the various "fun" phases of pregnancy. 馃槈

Welcome, from Calgary,

It's 7470 Kms from St. John's NFLD to Victoria, B C. That's 4640 miles. Can you narrow it down a bit?

Canadian ... Omega... impossible...馃槈

Canada is a big place... Where from? ( I'm southern Ontario, but always love it when people from other countries ask me if I know Joe Smith from Saskatchewan..)

What model diesel watch did you get? About the only time I've seen one of those was in a case at a sax off 5th (or maybe it was a nieman marcus last call).

I tried to organize one once, and there was a good amount of interest, but life got away from me.

We should make the effort!

I can pick everyone up at the Toronto GTG on my way. I bet there are a lot of pawn shops, thrift stores and watch shops we can stop at on the way
