We get a fairly solid 160-200 visitors a day atm, and we're just happy to let this forum slowly grow, we're in no hurry, and in no danger of going anywhere at all!

Google seems to crawl 惟F really aggressively. Some of those "visitors" are the Googlebot thrashing threads.

Thanks for calling ladies and gentlemen to join the forum.

If you have the opportunity to tell the world at large, please let them know a forum is not a place where only the experts gather. This is a false feeling and this false feeling makes many potential members shun the forum.

As a matter of fact, all those with zero and scanty knowledge about vintage-watches, intending to immerse in this worldly and challenging pastime, should join a forum. Only from a forum, we can get honest and invaluable advice from the experts and those would-be experts to chime in.

It is a win-win situation for all those potential watch-lovers.

Thank-you.

Hi seamonster, well said.
I know nothing about vintage watches.. and very little about modern watches !.
But saying that I have learnt a lot in such a short time, even to the point where I feel I can give a little bit of advice, no matter how missguided it may be..馃榿.
The great thing about this forum is not only are the senior members very knowledgeable and keen to help, they are very friendly too !, with interesting threads not only about watches but where members live and there hobbies, such as Trev and his boat, Ashley's love of chips and gravy and Dennis's wonderful shirt cuffs !馃榿

(I feel a ban coming on )馃槣

Steve only guys ever been banned are tea leaves trying to flog counterfeit Nikes and iPhones. Interestingly we haven't had any real assholes come visit, which may have something to do with us being more Omega focused than Rolex focused, but who's to say 馃槣 (in fairness I do own a Rolex and most Rolex guys are ok, its just the arrogant few that rate their beat-up Date-Just or Sub as being superior to everything from an Omega to a Patek that give the rest a bad name).

Thing is we already know about the location of a lot of vintage Omegas, some are in the Omega museum, some are under Dennis's bed or Desmond's vault, some are being manufactured or frankened together by tricky South Americans and a huge number, possibly even the biggest number are still on the wrists of old men, in boxes, drawers, garages, safe deposit boxes, and briefcases, some in good shape, some immaculate, most tired, and many beat-up, waiting to be picked out, identified, and given a thumbs up or down as to whether or not restoration and return to service is viable.

According to Desmond's reference works, there are somewhere in the world:

  • 1.3 Million (1,300,000) Omega watches featuring the Cal 300 series bumper movements
  • 1.0 Million (1,000,000) Omega watches featuring the Cal 50x series automatic movements
  • 5.8 Million (5,800,000) Omega watches featuring the Cal 55x 56x and 75x series automatic movements
Giving a total of 8.1 million. To put that in perspective, in 2010 Rolex received approximately 600,000 chronometer certificates.
What guess would you make as to the number still out there? Hard to even imagine really. That figure doesn't include the chronographs, which are a big segment of Omega production too.

They certainly are spectacular 馃榿

The only section of the site we're more strict about is the sales forum. If people want to advertise here for free, their ads should feature decent photos and make things easier for prospective buyers.

Well we're up to 400 now, which is not bad given we're coming up on the site's first birthday next month

Great! Most importantly, many of those 400 are contributing members and not registered lurkers. The guys really like the layout, speed, and limited restrictions here.

Great to hear.

Our growth rate is also more rapid than other popular watch forums when they started up.

We're very open to any suggestions and criticisms here. Any of you guys are welcome to speak up at any time. Don't be shy 馃榾

Just an idea, could a spell checker be added to the commands ?.
