The fastest way to "change" it is by reading the rules on those forums. That will give you the amazing power to change.

The other answer is: Sales forums require a 200 minimum post count.

Why? If you read the stickies, do some searches and participate on the forum you will understand why...and in the process acquire 200 posts.

Unless you obtain special permission from a moderator, usually by providing references, you need to have 200 posts before you can buy and sell on the MB.

Before you can post in the sales section. You can buy just fine by PM

Lori's question is a good one. I have searched the rules (as in "terms & rules") but it held no answer.
I searched the Marketplace, but found no rules.
The "200 post rule" was mentioned in another thread, so I asked about it there, but no-one replied.

Each Forum has a different architecture, & things can be hard for a new person to find.

It is a bit difficult to find I 'spose.

@JimInOz you don't show them until the third page of stick from members or until a cat or kitten gets posted. How many times do we have to tell you 🤦

Those rules apply to sellers, not potential buyers.
Potential buyers reach the end of the thread, & see a notice to the effect they can't post in the forum.
I still haven't seen any rules for buyers.

Well thank you. I have amended the rules just to accommodate pedantic members.

Just to make clear a concept:

The 200 post rule is so that we, the members and potential buyers, get to see how you, the seller, behave. Reading through a sellers previous posts gives an insight into that persons sense of right and wrong, and allow members to decide if that is the kind of person they can buy from.

It is interesting that one of the only recent sales post to go slightly Tonto was a new member who had obtained a waiver for the 200 post rule.

Honestly if a person is established in a watch community somewhere I dont see why its so hard to make 200 posts, with at least some of them interesting. I cannot believe they need the money that fast.

- And if they are simply flying in to sell a watch....then there is ebay.

And like always, this is a watch discussion forum that offers a sales platform to established members.

It's not a sales forum open to anyone, with a bit of discussion thrown in.

But don't you get people 'shit posting' just to get their count up?

Seems like a bad idea that's open to abuse...

We do and their posts get deleted by the mods so their post count goes down.
