An interesting Globemaster

Here is a Globemaster with a top notch dial:

My initial impression of this watch was that it could be a redial, but there are a few small details that match up perfectly with other original Globemasters (including my own):
1. "Swiss" (and not "Swiss Made") underneath the 6 o'clock marker.
2. 12 to 6 cross-hatch very slightly off.
3. Straight legged "M" in Chronometre.

Other things on the watch that look correct:
4. "OXG" hand stamped on the balance for US market.
5. Correct reference 2652. This one is a -8. Mine is a -5. Not sure what the difference would be other than the dial.
6. Serial number is 13,625,XXX. So is mine. Difference in the serial numbers is less than 100.

It's a shame that the case was so heavily polished and the crown incorrectly replaced.

Thoughts?

Can you post a picture of your dial here? My guess is there will be two main differences: the O in Official and dots on your dial.

I've never seen a legitimate dome arrow-head dial without those dots or with that round O. I think this one is a redial.

Close but no cigar. I vote for redial.

Hmmm, that's a helluva redial. The finish is almost perfect.

But there's a reason why I held back from putting it in the recommended thread.

I've never seen inked rectangles next to the hour markers for original dials as well - all the ones I have seen have been circular dots. The rest of the dial looks pretty good...

I want to know who did the redial!

Also you need to assess the dial in the context of the entire watch - in this case the dial is in much better shape than the case. There are exceptions to this of course but it is usually in the opposite direction - nice unpolished case (typically solid gold) with heavily aged dial and movement (usually from moisture).

I think that the case was deliberately over-polished. Maybe to impress the "Ooooh, shiny" crowd?

My example is also heavily polished on top, but whoever did it was careful to protect the medallion.

The movement looks to be very clean, as is the dial.

This is very odd.

Vertical crosshair is to the right, fonts slight off, lacking proper serifs. Damn nice looking job though

If it looked like Mike's I would have hit the BIN button

This is my Connie dial, original. The lines thickness is one of the proof of originality together with graphic care.

A minefield out there. I think that when something gets too expensive, crows and other scavengers thrive. Not smart. This is getting too silly.

The OP watch is very nice, except that the ad claims all original.

Is it me or does the printing on CHRONOMETRE look bigger/bolder than the other words? And the crosshairs seem a little off.
Look at this one to compare. I'm not saying yea or nay, just that.... my fledgling spider sense is tingling.

It does say "Swiss" in tiny letters below 6 marker, which is correct for this model.

That's what make the discussion in the other thread interesting.

Any way to merge these?
