Congrats! Lovely trio!
What are your impressions of the Solargraph vs KITH vs Original?
Well, the original is the 90's classic I had as a kid. Its a known entity. However, I treat this one with kid's gloves because its so old. My other red one went kaput and I was told its not repairable. I hope to god this one is because I am in love it it. The strap is stiff and I'm terrified that it's too brittle, again, because of the age. Its very much the affordable firs watch it always was.
Kith is the exact same watch but with significant upgrades in the areas that matter for wearability. Its got a sapphire crystal, repairable movement, and the strap is VERY comfortable. Is it an over-priced hype piece leaning heavily on nostalgia? Absolutely, but I got a good deal on mine and that was never something i was going to worry about in this endeavor. Also, its got a great WR and a modern water seal I can trust. Unlike the OG above, you feel like this one can handle just about anything.
Solargraph is the modern homage. Its a different watch. It obviously has the same style cues, but its like comparing the 1980s Ford Bronco to the current one. Same spirit, higher end, way more expensive, and with a few headscratching drawbacks (bigger and less WR). The opalescent dial is beautiful, I love the applied indices, and the lume is some of the best lume I've seen from Tag (better than my Night Diver IMO). The rubber strap is the same material as the Kith, but with a DLC buckle. For some reason it feels a bit more robust as well. The watch its self is also a bit heavier, which make me wonder if they made the plastic thicker.
I love all three, but for very different reasons.
