Hi community,

most of us were curious about the new E5 and it's OS. Especially Android users. Now as E5 has been release with its own OS, there might be some disappointment and fear for the future of E4. Will this beautiful watch get updates in the future or do we stuck on Security Patch of 1st April 2024. Which becomes more and more a threat and one day most of third party applications might not work anymore.

Well maybe there is a silver streak on the horizon. As you might know E5 runs ASOP. Android Open Source Operating System. Basically this is still WearOS just wothout all the (nice) Google stuff like Google Play, Keep, Maps...
This could mean that TH has a strategy. I'm not a pro but in my point of view this means that APPs developed for E5 might run on E4. Depending on hardware requirements. SO to speak that we have a chance to get some of the new APPs and the watchfaces on E4 without need to be developed for E4.

Maybe some TH guys could comment my thoughts
I'm sorry, but I'm quite certain that none of this will happen. The E4 will receive no updates from now on. As I already mentioned many times, it cannot be coincidence that the E4 is stuck on Wear OS 3.2 and every smartwatch that runs Wear OS 3.5 and newer does not support iPhones. This simply means that if TAG Heuer updates the E4 to any newer version of Wear OS, iPhone users will end up with a watch that doesn't connect to their phone. Wear OS has ceased iPhone support and that's that.
Concerning TAG Heuer OS on the E5 and its relation to Wear OS: Wear OS and AOSP Android have very little in common. Android AOSP is an open source base for OEMs to create their own platforms. Wear OS is a closed, complete wearable OS. Maybe porting apps from the E5 to the E4 (i.e. from an Android based OS to Wear OS) could be possible, but I'm sure that TAG Heuer doesn't have the development team for such experiments and in the end of the day, it makes no sense for them to port new stuff from the E5 to the E4 and thus make the E4 an even better product in comparison to the E5 than it already is.
I think the only way to see a better Connected in the future is for EU to force Apple to start playing nice with other smartwatch OSs and subsequently for TAG Heuer to return to Wear OS.

If they would act smart, which after all I read about E5 is doubtfull, they should keep old customers happy. Not supporting E4 with updates nor new faces does the opposite. But maybe my guess is right and at least some of the "news" of E5 will be transferred to E4 (watchfaces f.e.).
Lets see what happens... .-)

In the past TAG Heuer transfered new watch faces to old models, without OS updates. This indeed could be a possibility. But I would not expect anything else on the E4 apart from watch faces. Definitely no new features, like sleep tracking and of course no call answering as the E4 doesn't have a speaker. TAG Heuer Connected are now fragmented in two incomplete models; old E4 with a more reliable, advanced OS, with rich notification control and payment system, but no sleep tracking and phone calls; and E5 with phone calls and sleep tracking, but basic, unreliable system with no payment possibility and bad notification control. It's not a good situation.

New update addressing notification and weather being pushed out before end of month.

Agenda

Hi all, does anyone know where the E4 pulls the information displayed in Agenda ?

My watch seems to display events from a few of my different calendars but I want to try and chose which calendars/events I want to see. Also, Agenda displays all day events as Day 1/2 and Day 2/2 which is a bit annoying.

Hi all, over the last couple of weeks, there are many updates on Google Apps and it seems, they did a good job. Battery consumption decreases. As 2-3 months ago, sometimes battery didn't last more than 18h, now at the end of a day (after 18h of use) I'm still on 50% or more... If TH doesn't give us any updates, at least google does, thank you!

Hi, first post so please be gentle.

Firstly hi to all , reading this forum convinced me to buy an e4 over a Montblanc summit.

I've just got an E4 45mm and am struggling to connect to the Tag Heuer connected e4 app.

So far I set the watch up by connecting to wear os via Bluetooth. Copied my Google account over and all paired correctly.

I updated the wear from 2.66 to 3 at least that's what It said on the wear os app.

I then tried to connect in the tag app and it can't find my watch.

I know from reading here that I don't need both wear and tag connected apps so I uninstalled the wear os from the phone and watch thinking that the watch would now appear in the tag app but it tells me to install wear os.

I'm completely stumped, been trying for 2 days resetting the watch and restarting the phone. The phone is a galaxy s21 ultra running android 15.

Please help, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi , thanks for that.

I have got a bit further. The watch is now appearing every now and again in the connected app when I try to pair it. It gets to 12% and then aborts the connection.
I've deleted the wear os app on the phone and that seemed to help but I'm still stuck.

Thanks again

Well after a dozen restarts of the watch and the phone I finally got the watch to decide to download OS3. Turned off Bluetooth of every device nearby, deleted wear OS and at last I'm up and running.
I've bought the premium watchmaker option so now I'm trying to work out how to join a community to download some new watchfaces. Just hope that doesn't prove as difficult.
Many thanks to Tognola Lucy.

Sorry if I’m hijacking another post - I’m a newbie with an E4 question that has had 54 views but no reply. Hoping I put my original question n the wrong place and someone here will reply 🙏 I did search option on the forum but didn’t find an answer.

Should I buy an E4 to replace my Apple Watch?
About the only thing I use my aw for is to check texts and occasionally count steps when hiking. Have the option to purchase an E4 45 for sub $600, original owner with all receipts etc. Love the look of the Tag watches - but don’t know how well it plays with my iPhone (16 pro max)
Honest answers and opinions greatly appreciated, thank you

Thank you 🙏

Hi, can't answer about a comparison to an Apple watch on an iPhone as I use a Samsung.
What I would say is that is likely the Apple would have more features than the Tag.
From what you said about your needs the Tag would i think be fine but the tracking apps watch payments and a few other things will be missing.
I only say this after a few days with mine.
Probably not much help but if you google Tag e4 vs apple (whatever gen it is) then I think you'll see the main differences

Thank you 🙏 Apple Watch has way too many features that i don’t bother with as i gotta put my glasses on to see anything 😂 my main reason for smart watch is to see when i receive a text. My phone tracks steps - so even that isn’t a deal breaker. I just love the look of the Tag brand but prefer connectivity to a small degree. I guess for the price - I’ll take a chance and see how it goes. Thanks again 🙏 that’s really helpful.

I've been trying to figure that out cause I get no agenda items on my phone. Please let me know if you've figured it out so I can replicate whatever setting is needed to pull those agendas.

I'm very happy with the E4 45mm but on Android. As far as I read here, E4 isn't the perfect choice for iOS. Maybe wait some weeks till all the problems on E5 have been solved and replace your Apple Watch with E5 which seems to better support iOS. Unfortunately nothing for Android
