I'm headed to Jesse's tomorrow night barring any weather problems. Besides trying on David's Conquest Power Reserve and somebody-else-around-here's 320 chrono I'll be bringing home a sweet vintage moon phase calendar (pictures forthcoming). It ain't as nice looking as that Perrelet though.

Make sure you take pics, I still havn't seen any yet!

Was looking at this thing thinking well must be a very different in-house manual wind movement or something... then its an ETA 2892-A2 auto with some modification, if you're going to have an ETA movement, that's a very nice way to do it.

ETA makes some solid dependable calibers, and I seem to gravitate to them & Seiko for my casual / daily wearers or beach / beaters. Never really noticed until a member of another forum pointed that out. Subconscious pattern I guess.

The Seiko's are just weird, their winding mechanism, the magic fingers system, to my eyes, is about as painful to look at, and as technologically sophisticated, as a redneck beating his Chevy's starter motor with a sledge to get it going. Yet by some miracle of engineering, the damned things last decades and decades, one of my good mates had his Seiko 150M auto from the 80s only just serviced last year and it was still running within 2 minutes a day.

The Magic Lever system was lifted from the IWC Pellaton. Seiko wasn't the only one to base a winding system on that design though. Cyma and Longines, plus a couple others, used it too.

It reminds me of the winch used on our 40 year old boat trailer mechanically speaking, that's just why I've never understood how it's so effective

I love those Perrelets. Have been lowballing on one on best offer on Ebay (but only necause I cant afford it at the moment) In the meantime Ill have to satisfy myself with my Parnis version.
