WRFS What Returned From the Spa Today?

I don't believe such a thread exists, but it should. Getting a watch back from the watchmaker is a bit like getting a new watch.

To kick it off, this little treasure just came back from from the spa today.

I do like all things railroad, including having recently lost a bid on an old railway spittoon (there would be no way to explain that to my wife anyway), and tonight鈥檚 reading pleasure.

Does a car count?

I bought this 2004 Lexus SC430 last month, but it鈥檚 been at my mechanic until 2 days ago getting things sorted out. The interior is in great shape, the hardtop functions perfectly, and the exterior is in good shape, but the steering felt off as soon as I took it for a test drive and it had 183,000 miles with a spotty service history. Still, it was the cheapest one available at the time in the US (according to Autotrader) and it was 10 miles from me, so I took a chance.

Needed a new steering rack, tie rods, tires, and a lot of gaskets replaced, along with a new timing belt, but she鈥檚 running great now. A little more expensive than a watch repair, but not a whole lot more.

It is good to have friends that sell nice watches. The watchmaker did good work on the Wyler. I am not normally a accuracy freak, but I was testing out a different watchmaker.

Did you do something remarkably different to get such huge (to me it's huge) variation from one day to the next? Yes, I note the watch was not worn one of those days.

Are you looking at the deviation column or rate column? The deviation indicates how accurately I set it in the beginning. To my understanding only the rate is important information. Two data points when worn about +6 and +2 seconds per day (spd). I don't see that as a huge difference. Unworn +0.1 spd.

My rates per day are remarkably consistent, so I guess I'm the unusual one. 馃榾

With a sample size of two, it is hard to determine an outlier. I suppose the amount of activity I have in a day may vary. More or less yard work, did I go for a hike, etc.

Oh I remember those days, before the arthritis and fibro took over my life. I just sit in a chair and type all day.

I was looking for this thread yesterday forgot the title. I picked up my KS from service yesterday. When I picked it up I just gave it enough power to get it moving and check the date change. Then I brought it home and put it in my box. This afternoon I remembered to put the invoice in the watch with the box. I was very surprised to see it still going and right on time wise. I guess the rotor could have got a lot of movement in the 15 minute ride home. Power reserves always kinda fascinate me anyway.

My Audi A6 just returned from the auto spa. Two valve cover gaskets replaced, one vacuum pump replaced, wheel balancing, and oil change. $1,369.00. Ouch!!馃檨

Actually my wife returned from the spa today but you don鈥檛 get any photos. She has been away for a few days with her mother. You don鈥檛 get any photos of her either 馃榿馃榿
