What happened to the Autavia collection?

It seems that the Autavia collection has been discontinued on the official TAG Heuer website. Has TAG Heuer issued a statement regarding this? What could this mean for price developments on the second-hand market? The new Autavias hardly ever achieved cult status.

Yes, I think this new Autavia range was never successful… some of them are in the TAG Heuer outlet boutiques. These are the prices from the TH outlet boutique in La Roca Village, close to Barcelona (Bicester group):

I really liked the Bronze Calibre 5 and came very close to buying it tbh. Especially the early versions with the Isograph hairspring. Unfortunately, there were problems with this technology. I think this already broke the neck of the relaunch of the Autavia collection back then.

Bicester have those, and the chrono. Can anyone remember retail on these when new? Sure it started with a 3:

Price when new in 2018 was 4750€ (around £4,130.00 on current exchange ratio €/£) on the leather strap (current official price is 7100€ = +49,47%). But if they applied same price increase in £ than in €, then the £ retail price when new in 2018 had to be around £4,450.00.

To compare it with another “Heuer by TAG Heuer” still in the current range, Monaco CAW211P was 5250€ in that same 2018 price list (while current price is 8100€ = +54,28%) so it’s a similar insane price increase since 2018…

I’m going to ask my manager for my pay to be indexed to Tag Heuer rrp

I ask about what happened to the Autavia from time to time in the boutique but can't get an answer about anything past or future. I don't think they know much outside of the obvious / slow sales.

I did go to an event recently at the boutique and the Monaco was the most popular discussion topic amongst casual watch buyers during my time there. I wanted to find someone to talk 60's 3646 and 70's gold 1158s but was on an island.

The rumor is that the Autavia line will be reimaged in a future collection. So I hope we'll see it in the next couple of years. 🤞

Yeah might as well try something else, probably turn it into a dive watch next time... I mean why not.

Seems you've warmed up to the idea. You were against it when I posted this concept about a year and a half ago, calling it an abomination. 😉

I didn't know anything about the Autavia name when I purchased my Heuer new, but I prefer its look over recent Autavia offerings.

Like the Carrera, the Autavia has been through several iterations over the years. The 2003 re-release wasn’t as successful as the Monaco and Carrera re-issues, with it’s fixed bezel it wasn’t as authentic, although I thought the bracelet was brilliant. (Some reliability issues with the movement didn’t help either).
The Autavia cup was a great marketing ploy and with a bit more finesse the watch could have been a cracker, ultimately it was a nearly, not a must have for most.
But this last release !……
What were they thinking ?!
Bland, anonymous and to be frank, an insult to the Autavia name !
I wouldn’t even buy one at 25% of RRP.

Which 'latest release' are you talking about? The flyback chrono or the 'Pilot' watch?

Had to google the flyback chrono. Talk about forgettable release!
