Hi all,

I will be travelling in the Kansai region this summer.

Are there any interesting vintage Seiko models that are cheaper in Japan?

Or are there any vintage Seiko models of note that cannot be found easily elsewhere besides Japan?

I am considering buying a vintage Seiko (or another Japanese brand) as a souvenir.

Too many variables. What style are you looking for? Price range? Your wrist size? Dial color preference?

With that info, it's easier to give recommendations since there are a zillion Seiko models.

Short answer
1. List of shops - see above
2. Interesting models - some rarer models (eg. Japan only Grand Seiko LEs) can be found in Japan
3. Price - often not cheaper than elsewhere or even slightly more expensive, but condition is generally better, price for price.
4. If you're considering buying "a" vintage Seiko, be prepared to leave with more than one 😁. The range of watches is mind-boggling, Seiko or otherwise
5. Set aside at least half a day.
Happy shopping!

I would also look at the vintage Citizen divers that are hard to find outside of Japan. Depending on your budget I think a 6217-8001 is always a good choice. Not cheap but much more plentiful in Japan.

Forgot to mention - you can get a sense of prices (before you go) by searching websites of known watch dealers in the thread posted above, or you can check prices on Rakuten, Buyee etc to get estimates.

The lesser known Takano also made some nice watches...

I'd suggest getting one of these bad boys.
