Vintage patek corrosion problems

Hello everyone im being offered this vintage patek ref 2448 i noticed in the movement picture he supplied that there are some corrosions on the movement i emailed him about it and this was his reply. Does it make sense or should i pass on this watch? Also any inputs in the dial if its original or redialed? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance

The movement looks in bad condition.not just where u pointe, but right through. Screws, regulator

Definitely pass. That is a very bad sign, and contrary to the claim, not any sort of "natural effect" of aging.

It is easy to understand this if you view images of other vintage movements, very few of which show anything like this level discoloration.

The watch in question must have been exposed to moisture, possibly through high humidity.

Please google Swiss Watch Expo and read the threads on TRF. I take a watch shopping trip to Atlanta once a year and always stop in, but I doubt I would purchase from them. There are dealers with better reputations, and when spending Patek money, use one of them.

How can you tell its a redial? I still have a hard time distinguishing an original and a redial up to now

The dial would have been ruined with water incursion sufficient to cause rust on the movement. That dial is WAY too new looking, and the color is chalky white. The inking doesn't look up to snuff either.

It'll only cost you a few thousand euros to have Patek restore it for you. If you can stomach that, you have to want a Patek very badly!

I actually think that the plating is gone, I don't think what you see is rust.

The mainplate and all the other bridges etc are made of brass and plated, I think the mainplate has been cleaned in a very strong ammoniated solution for far too long and the plating has come off and you are looking at brass, not rust...

If the movement was just serviced by their "master watchmaker", why is the regulator so far off centre?

To OP: It would be really great if you could reply to the seller and include a link to this thread. Might make them think a little before making absurd claims about "fully serviced."

This is why before I buy a vintage again I will choose the model first. Then do due diligence on the dial, movement, case etc... At least then I can spot if parts are missing and the likelihood if it was serviced at all.
