My first vintage watch, a TAG Heuer 1000 980.013D:
I ordered it from Justin at tag1000diver.com, and it just arrived.

I still need to size it, which is why I'm not wearing it in the pic.
Congrats @BillC3! Can't really go wrong with a 1000, looks great! 馃コ

My first Tag Heuer! I knew I wanted a Carrera, and after some research I fell in love with the 1964 Re-Editions, specifically the CS3111. The dealer serviced it for me as well. However, I did have one question if someone is able to educate me. I'm finding the power reserve to be a little contrary. It will sometimes meet resistance after 10 turns or so and last about 50 hours! And others I'll wind it 40 turns or so and it will last 30ish hours. Maybe I'n not winding it right? It just had a complete overhaul. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

This is the Lemania 1873 isn't it.
If it meets resistance after ten turns it's fully wound at that point. I remember my old Speedmaster (same movement) took maybe 40 or 50 turns to fully wind. You can't really wind it incorrectly.
Do you run the chronograph a lot? That reduces the power reserve quite a bit.

Running the chrono will only stop it because of the torque it needs. If the chrono stops the watch and you would stop via the pusher, the movement will run till around the original PR.

Agreed on the winding, if you always wind till a full stop instead of basing it on resistance felt you can't go wrong.

I don't think he said the chrono stopped it, running it all the time would reduce reserve though.

Edit:
Sorry, yes I see what you're saying.
My thought was if the OP was running the chrono 24/7 his watch will stop short of normal reserve as a result. As a new owner of a handwound chrono he likely wouldn't think to stop the chrono, he will just think it's fully wound down.

Jumped on the F1 Bandwagon with both feet with this BP co-signed dial. Fun little watch. Love the color scheme--white, green, and black. very sharp.

Hi there! Just seeing your replies. Thanks for the input, and I like your thinking. However, no, the chronograph function was not running. I'm aware it can deplete the power reserve. When I ran my power reserve tests, I didn't run the chronograph function at all. It's very bizarre still. Unless my senses deceived me and I thought I felt resistance, I have no explanation. Here's what happened: Twice now I felt a lot of resistance after 10 turns and the power reserve lasted 50 hours! Then, when I let it wind down and stop, I rewound it, but this time it didn't have resistance until 40 turns! But... the power reserve lasted LESS time at only 36ish hours. So weird! This has only happened twice where it stoped winding after 10 turns. Every other time I've wound it, it's always been around 40 turns. So I'm sort of stumped. It's keeping absolutely fabulous time, so I'm not too worried I guess..

The price was right, and it's in great condition so I went with a Re-Edition case back! I felt comfortable after consulting the fine people of this forum 馃榾

That is strange, I can't offer any obvious explanation either!
Forty turns is about right for a full wind though.
Lovely watch by the way 馃槉

"There鈥檚 just something special about vintage Heuer chronographs - that perfect blend of bold design, racing heritage, and mechanical soul. The Heuer Carrera 1553 N on a Gay Fr猫res bracelet is pure 1970s charisma - elegant, yet unmistakably sporty. And the Autavia 11630 MH? That one鈥檚 the rebel of the family - tough, loud, built for the fast lane. As a German who grew up admiring precision and engineering, these old Heuers still give me that same rush every time I strap one on."
