Friends, I wish to add one decent calendar complication watch from the Trinity and am considering Vacheron Constantin Triple Calendar 1942 and Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5146G. They visually appeal to me though are in different price range. What would you take as a classic vintage looks watch?

They're both beautiful, but the VC is a cleaner dial and more legible to my eye. Can't go wrong with either though.

Patek has richer dial in cream and additional Moon phase.

what about the VC fiftysix Complete Calendar in SS? it's around 38K AUD with a choice of two dial colours.

Yes indeed but it’s 41 mm instead of 40 mm and without Geneva Seal. My preference is for a watch not exceeding 40 mm and VC should have Geneva Seal.

The 56 is 40mm and does have the Geneva seal. The blue one is particularly nice.

I failed to read Geneva Seal in specifications...

definitly love this VC
I ordered Patek 5146 last week. I decided to play safe with an annual calendar Patek in noble metal as perhaps final watch in my collection. With this I’ll have 25 watch collection with 15 watches from major Swiss brands. It’s enough for me for now.

I would say Patek looks better an unique . VC has the same look as some other watches with calendar hand - Oris, Movado etc.

Yes I also thought so. Now Patek is on the way.

Great choice! The 5146 is a classic, and uses an excellent movement. An annual calendar mechanism is a very useful complication, and your choice of annual calendar is probably one of the nicest available (as Patek was the first to introduce them in 1996).

Thank you sir. I got it this week but I’ll wear it on 19th, my 58th birthday. Then I’ll post customary wrist shot as well. Regards

definitely different price ranges,

I think for the same price to the patek 5146, you'd have to consider:

(personally i love the journe, but things like servicing costs, value retention, etc., are concerns because i'm not a millionaire)

1. lange 1815 calendar

2. fp journe octa lune

Good stuff @Pun , having had the chance to try the 5146 PP on my wrist a month ago I definitely applaud your choice. It's a gorgeous watch. Well played sir. Awaiting for the customary wristshots though 😁

Your both suggestions are gorgeous indeed. I considered them before committing to 5146G.
ALS has a busier dial and no lumes; it may cause strain to my ageing eyes as I want a watch to wear daily for a long time now after my retirement.
FPJ is a killer but again don’t match the clarity of 5146G IMO. It’s not an Annual Calendar as well.
Thanks indeed for providing great choice in similar price range. I’m sure someone else may benefit in future if one reads this thread.
