I passed once on the Hamilton version years ago and I regret it. Saw this on eBay some months back the seller was asking too much for a watch with problems. Got it for 1400 hundred less than when it started a drastic price drop. But after getting it think the seller should of gave me a better deal. This watch was made in 1912 for the US Navy some collectors call it a navigation or torpedo boat watch. The box the WW2 version the WW1 was different. It's a large watch with a 17-jewel movement with wind indicator. With a hefty silver case. The movement lose the crown don't work it won’t wind much or change the time has not been serviced probably since WW2. But everything looks there. If a 350 service works, I did good eBay has these for 3500 more and there not selling and without the box. This is like a barn find. Did get it to run for a little bit so their life in it.

Well dropped it off for service the other day. My watchmaker said I should live the outside of thecase the way it is part of the history of the watch does have a cool aged look to it. But there is 60-year-old fingerprints on the inside lids that would not remove with a cloth I ask if he could try. Some info of the watch. Now if anyone else have more info put it in the thread,

Here is what a WW1 era US Torpedo boat looks like they were bigger than the WW2 ones and had a larger crew this one had 29 men for a crew. And a ad I just bought off eBay as a reference of these Torpedo boat watches. This was the Elgin version in the ad never seen one of these before having seen the Longines and Hamilton ones. Wish I had the outer box just lucky to have the inner box.

Yes I would love to find one in a draw. See how a name increases the value of a watch. That's four brands that made them I wonder if there anymore brands that made them for the US Navy wonder if Omega got into the game.

Know this is a long shot anyone have a detent screw for a Longines Cal. 21.29 my watchmaker found it snaped. Otherwise, it's running OK but might run better with it.

Well got my problem child back. My watchmaker has to use all his skills on this one. The detent screw was snapped where part was stuck in the movement. Now try to find a detent screw for a 100-year-old watch Logines most likely did not make many of. I checked everywhere could not find one. So, my watchmaker was able to get the broken piece out without damage he found a detent screw that was close in his parts and rethreaded it to fit. And now she is in running condition. This watch was a nonrunner I was sweating my gamble I would lose see I am cheap sometimes I get bit. With what I got in it I did great.

That is a terrific result.

When the watchmaker timed it, it had 2 second's error not bad for a 100-year-old deck watch it could still do the job for navigation. Thats better than some deck chronometers fusee movements. Just ask Longines for an archive certificate and any info they have. Might get what I seen in other archive letter sold to Wittnauer watch co our supplier in the USA. Wish they had Wittnauer watch co records. But this must be a special order because the Navy did time test on a number of brands for Torpedo Boat Watches. Longines did not make any civilians pocket watches I seen with wind indicators but navigation watches I have not seen many civilian ones of this type.
