Universal has made some extraordinary enamels in the past and they are not much talked about. Wanted to share some finds, if you know anything about these please jump in!

Love em. What I read is that fakes are a problem.

A lot of bad restoration too, often confused with fakes!

I admit my total ignorance about these....more than interested in following the discussion and learning!

Still regret not winning this one auctioned in Australia two years ago.

I recently discovered Cloisonné watches and am fascinated by the dial-making technique. I've been contemplating purchasing the UG offered by Mentawatches, however, I'm uncertain about the correctness of the applied 3. Upon inspecting other examples, I haven't come across this shape before. Is anyone familiar with these watches and can provide insights into the originality of this dial?

Thanks!

Paul

I'm also captivated by this one sold by Antiquorum in the 1990s, which apparently depicts Jeanne d’Arc.. Does anyone possess details on the production quantity of these Cloisonné watches? Examining the other specimen of this watch in the initial post, it appears that there may have been multiple pieces produced.

Me too, it's one of those that haunt me and I still haven't been able to forget.

Also not entirely conviced about the applied 3.

The watch was previously offered by Heritage Auctions at a 6k estimate, but didn't sell

Don't know anything about the production numbers, but this particular motif was apparently used on different references.

The watch in the first post is from a collector based in Honkong who owns two watches with this motif. I'm unsure whether these are all original.

Another example auctioned by Christies.

I own a 1940s ref. 512205 with this dial. I'll share some pictures when I have it in hand next time.
