I鈥檓 not sure what I would call this type of degradation, maybe micro-spiderweb? It鈥檚 pretty cool in the metal but it鈥檚 hard to make it look good in pictures, it鈥檚 more subtle than it appears. The surface has different textures in the center of the dial and on the outer ring, suggesting that it was probably two-tone or textured originally.

I'm not a huge fan of patina, not on antique firearms or vintage watch dials even though, here at the home for wayward collectibles, patina abounds. There are a few members' watches regularly featured in various Forum posts which have really attractive patina or a nice "tropical" dial. Many though, like some of the watches in the menagerie here which have "tropical" dials or patina, are more reminiscent of the time in the fifth grade when, just after lunch recess, classmate Russell threw up on the terrazzo floor in the hall, right in front of the classroom door.

These have patina, are appealing in person, and much better than my photos show.

These are "respectable."

The janitor really needs to mop up on these.

(This ones a shame. It's a 30LS and a great watch. Even if the "Longines" was freshened up, it'd be much improved).

Stardust.. Spider.. Tropical.. Lava..
All are euphemisms for Damaged..
Not saying some are not beautiful, but paying crazy premiums?
To each his own.

Silver linen I think?
Silver linen I think is the best, maybe tapestry as backup. Great looking dial effect Imho.

I believe the correct term for that Omega dial finish is "cross hatch"

And,

The bubble and cracking dials are referred to as "crazing".

Wow, @noelekal those are incredibly beautiful -- I'd take them any day.

Been looking for threads on patina, because it's an interesting discussion. I really like the watch below and was discussing it with a friend. He said the dial was too spotted for his taste. My reaction was the spots are the key reason I like the watch. I would not be remotely tempted if it were all white.
Those tiny black specs remind me of home made vanilla ice cream!
Wondering what others think.

It does look like homemade vanilla ice cream or what is sold commercially over here as "vanilla bean" ice cream.

Looks "good enough to eat." I'd own it. I'd wear it.

I have a 30L Flagship headed in the same direction. I call it the Desert Camo dial.
