I think my Jet is also slightly smaller and thinner than the comparable steel or gold capped model. Gratuitous picture:

The cal 71 Captain from the mid 50's is pretty satisfying. Heavy-duty, 37mm, 18k-pink-gold case, breaking that rule of thumb about millimeter-chiseling; it's the largest cal 71 case I've seen. And a solid gold dial to boot.
No pennies were pinched in the making of this watch. 😀

I know many love 'em, but I have no lust for yellow gold. Every time I've bought one, it has quickly moved on.

Give me good old stainless steel every time.* 😀
