Tri-Compax Input Needed

Hello all,

First time poster. I was referred by a friend who mentioned the great UG forum here. Glad to have found it!

I'm interested in this UG Tri-Compax, but afraid it's a redial. You can also see in the movement photo that it's highly regulated, so I'm guessing it's going to need to be serviced. Any input on the overall condition, authenticity, and the price of this watch would be very helpful.

Here is the listing.

Thanks for your time!

Heck no that's not a redial. It's stone-cold original and it's in great shape. The price is OK.

I have no idea what you mean by "highly regulated" with respect to the movement, by the way.

Thanks! I meant that the regulation mechanism is off the markings. Maybe that is fairly common and normal, but it seemed off to me.

I wouldn't rely on that to indicate the need of a service.

There's only one thing that has me a bit confused and that's the model number - 57278. I'm not certain about this and I don't have my Sala with me, but I thought the first digit should be "1" for an 18K case. Can someone please verify that and tell me what "5" is for? I probably misremember as everything else looks a-ok here.

Don't the hands look too short for the dial? At least it seems that way.

Not in my opinion - hour hand goes to the hour marker, minute hand to the minute track, and second sweeper into the tachymeter -- sound and logical design.

It has sold apparently, but I appreciate the input and discussion. Hopefully ulackfocus snatched it up.

No, it wasn't me. 🙁 I wouldn't step on anybody's toes like that - I would have cleared it with you first since you found it.

The hand reaches the minutes, but not the 1/5th of a minute. I just thought it would reach all the way up.

That's one pretty TriCompax! I hope the new owner will introduce himself around here...

There apparently was one with that reference number sold on Chrono24.com some time ago.

It could be the same watch, there is no way to tell:

Strange, as the chrono24 one seems to be in a 34mm case. The OP's tricompax s 36mm.

Curioser and curioser: I had a chance to consult Sala. The "5" prefix is for a 14K case. And yet:

very strange😕

And furthermore, the second number should denote the type of movement. The only options for that position are "1" - time only, or "2" - chronograph. There is no "7." As I look through Sala, this is confirmed. There is no UG reference number with a "7" in the second position - ever, for any model, not just Tri-Compaxes.

Hmmmmm😒
