Hi Guys- saw a 36 mm UG Tri-Compax ref number 12551 case number 1332985 in yellow gold with what seems to be a hallmark on its side (see picture below).

I don't know anything more about this watch including year of manufacture etc. however, the dial is very different to what has been posted on this forum or found online & I was wondering if you think it's a redial?

Any information, views or advice on this would be appreciated as I am a novice to the Universal. I can tell you the vendor is asking for a sizeable sum for this : (

What do you find so atypical about the dial?

BTW I believe it to be original. My objection to this watch would be the case. It has lost a lot of definition from polishing.

Thanks for the swift reply! I was a bit concerned by the dial as I hadn't seen this style before but as it was faded enough it led to some confusion.

don't own the Sala reference book so it was difficult to investigate this model further & find its date of manufacture etc. Also I noted a faded hallmark but wasn't sure if it was a gold plated model or gold ( as I don't have any interior photos) but presume it would be a standard 481. cal....?

Case references beginning with the number "1" are 18K gold. I'd expect this to have a cal 287 inside. I'll also point out that the ref 12551 is the so-called 'Truman' case - http://omegaforums.net/threads/universal-genève-tri-compax-ref-12551-truman.8103/
