Trench Watch

I'm going to post this watch here because I'm not sure where else to post it. Part of my Great War watch collection. This one has a great inscription, and I even found Second Lt. Lawrie in a Google search. He was a POW in 1918 and survived the war. Movement is just a generic 15j swiss, but nice dial. Let's see some more like this!

Don’t know the provenance on these, the first came from GB but I haven’t researched the provenance yet

The second a Longines sold through Birke’s in Canada in 1917 as a sterling officer’s watch.

Do you have a movement picture as on the dial it has a faint print of Mappin Campaign. Could it be a Longines?

Here are two I have in the collection

A Elgin with Pershing dial and a US Signal Corps Zenith

Case back of the Elgin the 29th div was a US Army National Guard unit activated in WW1

The Zenith my favorite of the two it's in such great condition for it's age.

The Lt. Lawrie watch is fantastic. Lots of interesting info in that inscription to research. I'm curious to know what Lawrie was doing in Lonely Mine Rhodesia.

Thanks for the information. I could not make out the dial before, but it definitely says Mappin "Campaign". I will get a picture of the movement up, but don't think it's a Longines.

Do have any information on Lonely Mine? I could not find anything. I have had this watch in a box for years and finally decided to check out the inscription. I found from google info on Lawrie, but none on Lonely Mine

I have another 1928 watch with Longines mvt. like yours, I think it's a 13.34. I actually have a Longines extract for it confirming date of 1928 and sale to Alfred Baume in London.

Nice watch use to have a Illinois Depollier mine was missing the gold disk that had USA and serial number on case back. Should have never sold it they never come up for sell. Mine landed in my lap a shop called me and said they had some thing I mite want how often does that happen and the price was great. Wished I still had it.

I do not have the disk either, oh well. I picked mine up many years ago and over the years brought it to a few shows for sale, luckily no jumped and now it's strictly NFS. I also have the Depollier case opener for it.

Hi Everyone, just picked up this beauty and haven't seen anything like it on the web yet. The watch is dated roughly 1935, made of stainless steel and runs on a 15 jewel movement. The interesting thing about this watch is that it has 24 hour markers on the outer rim of the dial which I have not seen on any other Omega trench watches of the time period, many online contain the inner circle of red numbers. The glass is original and the porcelain is in great shape without any cracks. The hands have been unfortunately relumed but are the originals from 1935. I was hoping for some more information if anyone knows more about these specific types of watches. I unfortunately do not have the calibre number since I prefer not to risk scratching the case. Thanks

Here is one of two trench watches in my collection, bought for my Canadian content. This is an early war Birks Rolex about 1914-15.
Rolex later teamed up with T. Eaton company about 1916.
The scratching on the crystal would indicate that it had a shrapnel guard on at some point.
The movement is a Rolex Rebberg, case nicely Rolex signed, but with Birks signed sprocket wheels.
