Hi,

Appreciate thoughts on this tri-compax. Not sure of price yet. Pretty reputed vintage dealer (goldammer) - drops next Thursday. Apologies pics aren’t great - had to take screenshots from a video. (Ref 22250)

Thank you!

I don’t know much about these but this is beautiful.

I’ll let the experts tell you good from bad but from a novice, looks pretty.

There is some inconsistencies with the between-minute markers(see the length of them compared to eachother!), and the '2s' on the calendar are super inconsistent. Not sure if that is authentic or a redial though, if its a redial, it is pretty expertly done (OR, this level of inconsistency is just normal on UG?).

Overall a pretty watch! Though that chrono movement resizing is kinda silly! Rather than a movement ring, they just made all the plates that much bigger on a smaller chrono movement! Thats a funny way to do it, 281->481 apparently is just some plate-resizing, rather than making anything bigger!

Not a redial. It is a factory replacement dial (early 60s) that has been frequently discussed here on OF. Hands have had a re lume regime. Case is correct and sharp. The moon disc appears to be ok as well as I found an ad with that style in Sala. Generally they replaced the moon to a faceless one when changing out the dial because the original discs deteriorated. This is a nice watch.

yah that’s the classic UG service dial. All the parts are UG but it looks put together and heavily prepped. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…..if that’s your jam.

The beauty with gold hammer is that they’re really good at teasing you with a nice video. But then I have always wondered - if ever you want the watch, then realistically you have to pull the trigger in three seconds. In that time, you also have to look at the pictures for the first time, read the condition report and digest the price. It’s tough. 🤣

I suspect you are right, it has the look of a prominent dealer near Milan who once had shows and sold such pieces for large money.

There's a similar example coming up for auction soon (see link)

This watch looks to have a service moon phase disk in addition to a service dial. Wish there were more pictures readily available, but I'm sure the auction house will provide more if you ask

Also, the chrono hours and date hands don't look right to me:

But similar package to the Goldammer watch, and you'll have more time to think about the price/condition report/pictures

I have seen that tri compact moon pop up every now and then and it is on my list of desirables …
