Hey guys,

As much as I looked I could not find a thread about this great (and somewhat odd) line of Speedmasters. There are many discussions on certain models and references but no generic thread - at least I could not find any.

So let's see those Mark Speedies. Here is my trio;

Funnily enough, both my Mark II and Mark III were delivered in November...both in 1973. So exactly 45 years to the day soon 馃榾

Mark II Racing delivered to Germany on 20.11.1973
Mark III delivered to Switzerland on 14.11.1973
MarK IV is unopened, still sealed so no serial number

Mark II

This was one of the first speedmasters I bought. I sent it to Omega for the full treatment . I've spent way too much money on this one to ever justify selling it, but that's OK. It's a keeper for me. A lesson I can wear on my wrist. I wanted to see how "bad" an Omega restoration actually was, first hand.

Would like to chime in with some spaceflight related info on these special Mark Speedmaster chronographs 馃榿
In August 1974 we saw the Omega Speedmaster Mark III at the wrist of cosmonaut Gennadi Sarafanov (Soyuz 15) and in February 1977 at the wrist of cosmonaut Viktor Gorbatko (Soyuz 24)...
Furthermore in April 1979 the Soyuz 33 Commander cosmonaut Nikolai Rukavishnikov wore an Omega Speedmaster Mark III Big Blue during training for the Soyuz 33 mission...

I have a Mark III and a Mark IV, ages ago I had a 4.5.

I also have a Speedmaster 125, which was the upscale cousin of the Marks III & IV, although it is not technically a Mark.

I am a big fan of pretty much any Omega chronograph from the 60s or 70s that came in non-traditional cases, the 1040 family in particular. I've researched and written extensively about the 1040 family at www.calibre1040.com.

I too am a fan, but really do not know much about them, just that I like them. I bought the Mark III a few years back and just recently bought the Mark II.

Which is the original finishing of Mark3 case? circular or starbust?
I have learned a mounth ago that Flightmaster can have both finishing...

Never heard that. May I ask you some reference about flightmaster case finishing?

You can find this information, and picture, on Flightmaster Only Book. Last reference (.036) could have a circular finishing.

Like the flightmaster, the Mark 3 can come in either finish. My Mark 3 has the horizontal finish:
