··Never Used A KodakLast October DaveK stopped in for a visit. It was nice but he had a plane to catch.
This second visit was way more relaxing.
We started with coffee and a recent book purchase. A sweet treat prepared by Archer. Dave took some with him. If watchmaking doesn’t work out Al, you can sell these! After about 90 minutes, my wife, la Dure à Cuire had prepared a snack. Some seafood chowder picked up at a coastal village of Lake Huron. Fresh bread, salad and custard tarts. Plus more coffee.
I then took Dave to part of my leather stash. He carefully selected some leather pieces and will make more of his outstanding items.
I will call it the DaveK Duracuir collaboration. Of course, he will do all the work. I supplied the leather. The lunch… and the leather… I had promised Dave an awl from the last trip I made at the Antiques mall. I gave him the one shown by the black arrow. The other arrow points to scissors that were totally rusted. I soaked them in CLR for 3 days, then wiped them with oil. They easily cut through thin leather. Amazing! Here are the mostly rust free blades now, as Dave prepares to test them. Hands courtesy of @DaveK And since we were both wearing Omegas, why not a couple photos? Another nice visit Dave! Thanks for your friendship. The cat is afraid of everyone else and is glad you left, but do come back soon.
