I too think the smarter species will hide from others. On that note/topic I can’t recommend the book series ‘The Three Body Problem’ highly enough…was a great read likely to be ruined by Netflix soon…

Now now, not every series get ruined by network film producers. One that I can recommend is The Expanse, I equally enjoyed the books and the TV adaption.

It’s looks like Jeff Bezos May have spotted a gap in the market... might be good timing and open up more collaboration potential / capitalise on cheap reusable orbital launch systems to support a SpaceX Mars shot....

Ballons have been a cheaper option for ultra high altitude work and Rockoons are a thing for cheaper low orbital missions...
Enter World View... £50K for a 12 hour flight to the edge of space with all the old airship style trimmings (glass of champers anyone).
Enviromentaly neutral-ish one imagines..... anyone going to book a ticket?
The wonder of competition...

No "politics" but a fact check about these sub-orbital flights:
Remember only " spacefarers " who completed at least one orbit around Earth are really considered "astronauts/cosmonauts" and eligible for membership of the ASE - Association of Space Explorers

Not exactly commercial but who is excited for the James Webb telescope launching in just a few days here.
With as many delays and issues it has faced so far, I sure hope launch and deployment go smoothly.

That thing is amazing, both in concept and execution. Godspeed on the mission.

Wouldn’t it be cool if Omega would have a lottery for a ticket to space with lottery entrants being any person who purchased a Speedmaster in one of their OB!?! 🥰
May still be a cheaper PR event than paying for “brand ambassadors”…
Who is in!? 😎

I want to have a thread where we can talk about things relating (but not limited) to SpaceX, Blue Origin, ULA, Dynetics, Virgin, Boeing etc....or really just news of up and coming spaceflight in general.

I don't know about you all but I am super stoked for the near future of space travel.
There is just so much happening so fast right now it seems that I thought this would be a good spot to dump any and all info for those of us who are interested.

So Cool that in a few years from now it will be as normal to space fly as it was to ski or scubadive in the 60`s, still limited for the rich but for the rest a dream that can be achieved. To see the curvature must be really special.

Interesting video of life on the ISS as a non-astronaut.

"Maezawa and his filmographer Yozo Hirano spent 12 days shooting tons of video about all aspects of life in space... Both from space and now back on earth, Maezawa has been sharing that footage to help inspire others’ interest in space too."

"Yusaku Maezawa is a Japanese billionaire who bought his ticket to spend nearly two weeks aboard ISS for an estimated $80 million; you might recognize his name from headlines a few years ago where he announced that he had purchased a trip around the moon for himself and eight others, thanks to Elon Musk’s SpaceX."

So far about half-a-dozen of people have flown " space packages " containing wristwatches onboard commercial spaceflight missions.
Several " space packages " with personal items were flown during the Blue Origin "Astronaut Rehearsal" flights (Jeff Bezos' program) but an interesting flight was the recent SpaceX CRS-24 which carried Elon Musk's personal TAG Heuer Cal 1887 chronograph to the ISS

Interesting to see how this develops...
.

Sir Richard Branson knowingly sent defective passenger rockets into space, a lawsuit by Virgin Galactic shareholders claims.
The lawsuit also alleges the spacecraft 'were not designed for commercial purposes… had cracks develop after every flight, and lacked appropriately scheduled maintenance'.
Shockingly, it claims Branson's celebrated Virgin Galactic launch into space in July last year suffered damage mid-flight, and 'cracks were found in key locations on the vehicles'

Looks so much better in person.
SpaceX had a very busy day today.
