Panda dials For The Win! My favorite from the ones pictured is the one front and center.

Ooh a vote. I'll have to study although definitely NOT any of the four "fantasy" models.
I'm thinking Panda dial too..........

EDIT: Looking through all 16 options, I narrowed it down to two.
Spookily, one selection was same as Hubert.
But you know what? I'm just happy that the new Autavia is coming.
Please TH, make it a manual wind!

Much as I like the white dial pandas, it's got to be a black dial reverse panda. Any will do but I think the 2-register 1966 (image below) is the one for me. However, looks like the white dial that Hubert chose is currently leading the vote with my one in 4th place. Maybe they should make one of each colour? Or all 16?!

The ablogtowatch poll is unofficial of course.
Interesting that the current top 5 all share the same characteristic of having baton markers with no dial numerals. Good form!

Good observation. I prefer no numerals within the dials. However, I think double outer numerals (hours and minutes) is overkill. One kind is enough, like this one I modified to illustrate the point:

vs the original

The Autavia Cup - What We Know So Far (March 10, 2016)

  • TAG Heuer will be conducting a competition, by social media, for enthusiasts, collectors, anyone and everyone to select the model of vintage Autavia to be re-issued
  • The 16 models in the Autavia Cup are from the first generation Autavias, produced from 1962 through 1969 (first execution screw-back case through compression case)
  • 12 of the models were actually offered by Heuer in the 1960s, and the additional four “Fantasy” models were created through PhotoShop
  • The Autavia Cup competition will have models facing off, in head-to-head competition, with the winner of each match advancing to the next round
  • TAG Heuer will select the model to be re-issued, from the Final Four (i.e., the four watches that win the first two rounds)
  • The new Autavia will be introduced at Basleworld 2017
Got to say - Nothing short of amazing that TAG Heuer is approaching the re-issue of the Autavia through this approach . . . The Racers watch!! The People’s watch!!

The 16 Autavias Competing in the Autavia Cup

Click on the image below to have a closer look at the 16 Autavias that will compete in the Autavia Cup. The top 12 are “real” models that Heuer produced in the 1960s and the four on the bottom row are “Fantasy” models produced by collector Paul Gavin, operator of HeuerWorld.

The official vote opens on the 17th March.

The current vote is just an unofficial one at ablogtowatch

With my cynical hat on, it's a shame that TH gets the final decision from a public-voted shortlist.
It means that if they've already decided, say, that they want to issue one of the 'fantasy' models, they can guarantee one gets to the final four by putting them up against each other at the public vote stage.

Yes, it's a bit like the voting on the X Factor. The judging panel have the final say after the public have narrowed it down. On the one hand it's a bit of a cheat. On the other, if I were Tag Heuer, I'm not sure I'd want to fully entrust such an important decision to the great unwashed. 😀

Agree with all of your criteria David. Especially 40mm or below and a genuine 're-edition.
