We only have buds on our trees at this point, if that. We have one tree out front that buds first every year, and it's my yearly spring ritual to stand under it the first warm day and just listen...
The bees take huge advantage of this first food source after a long winter, so I just stand there surrounded by the buzzing bees...it's wonderful to hear. Late last week was the first time it happened, and since then we've had mostly rainy days, so maybe today I'll go out again and see if they are back...
This might be the last year to have all those bees around, since the large fields behind us are being developed for more housing...with less habitat and food around, I do wonder if I'll hear them at all next spring...
