I called the Omega headquarters in Switzerland they simply responded that she was beautiful , rare, but the information was confidential about the exact number of parts. but how do you explain that the racing japan is neither limited nor numbered series such as Tintin series then how can you explain that the number looks to 2004 pieces thank you very much for your response and interest

Was out with my daughter tonight for pizza and couldn't help but notice the checkerboard tablecloth... not bad for an iPhone photo...

Great pic. Great dial. Moulinsart were fools for not wanting a Tintin association with The Speedmaster.

Took the plunge! Was shopping the 3570.50 but liked the red accents. As did my son and the plan is that it will one day be his. It's numbered 777781xx purchased at Toppers in Burlingame -- who were really great to work with and arranged a transaction I was comfortable with. I must have been in five times trying things on and was never pressured or made to feel ignorant (this is my first Real Watch). If it ends up becoming a special or sought after model, great. I am certainly interested in the details like everyone else here. Either way I just dig it, and will be wearing it every chance I get!

Very nice. Congrats. And that's the new Omega wood box as well? Have yet to see one of these boxes in the wild. And welcome to OF by the way, best watch forum in the universe.

Edit: Ps. Already very special and sought after as far as I am concerned . It's now essential that you get a Tintin rocket to keep with your Tintin watch.

You could use the 'Mark-recapture method' which is generally used to estimate fish populations, to get an idea of total numbers.

Basically for a given population (fish, or in this case Tintin Speedys), you catch several individuals and tag them (or make a note of the serial), and monitor the rate at which new catches are already tagged (already noted serial no) or not yet tagged (new serial no). You can then run this through an equation to give an estimate of the population size. Obviously accuracy is related to sample size.

The "German Tank Problem" approach would most likely give a better estimate.

Thank you! And to all here. This is a great forum community and has been an invaluable resource in my decision over the past months well before I stumbled onto the Tintin.

I wasn't aware about the box being new but it's really nice. Having looked at the 3570 and used samples I was only aware of the red one and the huge new one with the loupe and additional straps. Happy New Year to all who may be celebrating.

Very interesting thread, and I thank @blubarb for putting this together. I can see Omega keeping this quiet, given that they were more or less ordered not to continue with the official Tintin tie-in. So use up the parts created, insert the allocated 1861s, and sell them to the public. The "racing" dial model is still on the Omega.com website (accessed from Canada), so they still must have stock in the ADs. I love mine (on my wrist as I type...), and will indeed keep it!
