Some random macro shots on watches

Hi all. I got recently some macro extension tubes as a cheap alternative to a proper macro lens. Will eventually get the lens, but in the meantime these $50 tubes will do. Played around with some close ups on Omegas mostly and I'm sharing just for the fun of it. These are 100% crops or close to and I apologize in advance for the filth. Watches need to go in the ultrasonic before attempting such photos.

I used to have those extension tubes years ago. I took some good photos with them. Now I have a Sony mirrorless camera with a macrolens. The setup is more expensive but I'm happy with the photos.

@drster what macro lens you using? I have a Nikon Z6II I bought ~6 months ago and have yet to justify spending another $1k on a 105mm macro. Extension tubes are quirky, but very usable for product shots.

I have this one pictured. It’s a Sony. I used to look for used lenses on eBay.

I’d like to get a digital camera again with a macro lens, but I make do with my cell phone for the time being. Regular iPhone lens shooting through the loupe that came with my Speedmaster.

Thx a lot Luke! No problem. I am using the ‘Loupe system’ It was initially developed to be one of the best minimum distortion eye loupes for WIS to admire their watches. But later on they discovered it was a perfect tool to clip onto any phone camera.

I use their universal clip. As the specific phone case+connection system was sold out.

As light source I either use a big window in combination with overcasting clouds or I borrow a lighting setup of a buddy who films for a living.
