My late father’s 1973 Bulova Accuquartz. He passed away in 1976, so this watch was only worn by him for about 3 years. The Accuquartz was Bulova’s last gasp effort to compete with the landslide of cheap quartz watches that arrived in the market in the early 1970s. It is basically an Accutron 218 with a quartz modulator added to the circuit. It was an expensive watch to produce, and Bulova simply wasn’t able to compete, resulting in their ceasing manufacturing in the mid 1970s.
