I thought I'd share this 'rare' Seiko with you in the hope you can resolve a query for me.
I've read up on the watch and it's spec and capabilities are quite well documented. My query is with regards to the age of this watch.
The serial suggests a production date of 2010, however from what I have read, this particular model and the similar SBDR005 were discontinued in 2003.
Can anyone shed any light on this anomaly?
Many thanks

The serial isn’t 2010. It’s simply a year ending in a zero, so 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010 etc.

I'm only going by the online Seiko serial checkers which suggest 2010/2020.
That said, the serial checker suggest provision post 2004?? I'm guessing Seiko details aren't an exact science.

I’m purely going by the serial and not the movement. That serial code is a year ending in a zero.

Regarding the movement. In your first post you said it was introduced in 2004 and then you say it was discontinued in 2003. Can’t very well be both.

When you include the movement, you’re correct, it narrows it down to 2010 or 2020

A quick search suggests it was introduced in 2001 so a production date of dec 2000 seems perfectly reasonable.

Thanks for your time on this.

My original assumptions with regards to discontinued production were based on quartzimodo's review. His article refers to the Japanese domestic market which leads me to think that production may well have taken place elsewhere and for longer than his review suggests.

No doubt this will be the proverbial holy grail, but does anyone know where I might be able to source additional links for this bracelet? I've tried Seiko and they no longer hold any stock? Are there any re-sellers anyone can recommend? Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
