Hi all, thought I’d share an interesting piece I procured a week ago.

A special edition PADI Prospex SRPA83K1 with a misprint error on the case back, “Special Editoin”. Not sure how many of these are out there but I find the misprint unique and amusing!

No mate, this is 2nd or even 3rd Seiko model where a case back has such "editoin" misprint.
There are people who believe that such misprint should add extra value on the secondary market, but if you think about it.. well I am not seeing it.

Are there any clues? Searching the web shows a number of similar cases, some bought at ADs apparently.
I had a quick comparison with the Seiko website and the bezel pip looked off and the small model designation at the bottom of the dial seemed different too. Also the transition between the flat part and curved edge of the bezel seems off.

Here's the watch at Seiko's site.

https://www.seikowatches.com/global-en/products/prospex/SRPA83K1

Here's a close-up of the SEIKO & ProSpex logos on the dial. Crisp, fine, clear printing.

Here's a close-up of the OP's photo. Thicker, messier printing.

...I wouldn't use that "photo" as a comparison for anything photographed in the real world.

It is so highly processed that it could just as well be a Pixar movie prop. Note for instance that the gap between the day and date (visible in all photos I could find online) isn't visible on the above. When I look at reputable outlets selling the same model, they all have slightly fuzzy printing.

I don't know the model in question, just found it odd that others report the same issue - that said they could all be buying fakes and lying about it.

@shatterstate where did you purchase your Seiko? Wish.com? 😁

Did the seller buy it from wish.com 😁

Not familiar with wish.com so I am unsure what you are implying other than you seem to think this is a fake?

No mainly I’m just pulling your leg, but I’m not convinced still about the watch. But then I don’t know what’s correct. Another example is look at the font of the 2 in the date window. Compare yours with the linked one.

I see a blurry pic compared to another somewhat blurry pic? The watch was also verified by an AD in person in my city so I’m not sure what you see that they are missing,
Well if you don’t see that those two “2”s are different then I don’t know what to say. Maybe it’s all correct. Like I say I just don’t know enough. But I do see differences between it and the one that I’m (possibly incorrectly) using as a reference.

I dont see why misspelling on a caseback would make the watch special.

I guess you could compare to currency. If there is a printed mistake those notes become highly desirable. Maybe in this case some don’t feel a misprint error is desirable unless it’s higher end like Omega or Rolex?
