Seiko 5 Sports Automatic 6309-604A (dial 604L TH)

I recently got this Seiko 6309-604A (dial 604L TH, case back serial 975893 for July 1979?) watch with rotating bezel. I've been able to find very little information about it online. Japanese Seiko catalogs from 1979 don't have anything resembling this. It's an export version with day-date having English and French(?) (dim lun mar mer jeu ven sam) days. Has anyone come across these? Any information would be appreciated!

There are some for sale on eBay so put in the eBay search engine 'Seiko 6309-604A'.

You should also search the eBay completed/sold listings to see what these are actually selling for and to compare the condition and descriptions with your own watch.

I used ebay seller product research tools which gives max 3 years visibility to Ebay listings. In that time, 0 sold, and as you also noticed, two currently on sale (with the other being listed on Oct 20, 2015 (!) - see attached image). Slightly better luck with Google Images search, which finds ~ 5-10 (unique watch) images from current and past listings. But very little actual information.

I keep calling this my mystery Seiko! 😀
