·We wanted to give you guys a long overdue update since we had hoped to publish Seamaster Only at the end of last year. Unfortunately the pandemic caused us to cancel work trips to London and the Omega archives which did slow our progress. However we have continued working hard on the book, both individually and collaboratively, with regular online meetings amongst ourselves and also with the Omega heritage team and last week all four of us had an extremely fruitful working get-together and photo-shoot in Milan which has really propelled the project forward.
Real progress has been made, hard work and research has paid off, with much fascinating detail coming to light. There’s still plenty of work ahead, but feel it’s important to get the project right and not rush it. We believe the finished book will be well worth the wait.
Given the ongoing uncertainty of the situation it’s difficult to give an accurate estimation of release date, but rest assured work is continuing apace.
We thank you for your patience.

·JESUS, this thread was a roller coaster ride. Stumbled in and thought this was an upcoming Seamaster original watch release and your order books are open to get a spot for the beauty of a watch. I hope that is actually what this is….

We’ve made great progress this year and a lot of the work is now complete, including most of the photographs and a fair amount of the writing. Some interesting new facts have come to light which is exciting.
There’s still quite a bit more to do before we reach the finish line so we don’t have a release date yet, but will certainly update this post when we do.

We? Not me. I applaud them for the ongoing effort and look forward to when the book is finally released. And even if it does not get finished and go to publication they have amassed a mountain of documentation that will eventually see the light one way or another. It's a herculean effort.

··Oooo subtitles!I really don’t envy anyone involved in this. The SM300 is the one Omega model where I feel it would be unwise to tip my toe in the water because it’s just so damn hard to get a good handle on all the variations and bear traps. The profusion of modern replacement and outright fake parts also muddy the water much further. Speedmasters by comparison are much much easier IMO.
I imagine writing this is rather like the Blackadder episode featuring Robbie Coltrane as Dr Samuel Johnson. Just when he thinks he has finished his dictionary some smart arse comes along and throws new made up words at him!

·how will it differ to "Seamaster to Seamaster"?
(genuine question)
Seamaster to Seamaster is an art book that features photos of one watch per year for the 70 years mentioned in the title. There's np specs, no history, just beautiful photos of watches on backgrounds that fade from black to white.
I'm still hoping for a Speedmaster Only type book that starts at the beginning. With all the specs and variations. Not just dive watches. That would be a monumental effort.

Would be a shame if they left out the history of the original Seamaster models. There's so many incredible dials, interesting movements from bumper to COSC, and great cases to fawn over, plus the introduction of bracelets. The diver watches are great, but not the whole story.
