This has been for sale at a local pawn shop for a couple of years and they are still pretty set on their $1500 price. I don’t think I’ve asked about it here before but I’m just curious, other than simple over pricing because they don’t really know what they have, as to why this might be so expensive

Way too expensive for a model like that in rough shape and in gold-cap, this is a comparable listing from here in the private watch sales section that sold earlier this year to give you an idea:

On Ebay at auction they go for even less. By the time you've got it serviced you'll be nearly $2k into a very rough old Seamaster.

BTW I edited the title to make it more searchable too.

It would be worth that if solid gold certainly. Otherwise, not so much.

I’d pass, you can find nicer versions for that price point.

That's a high asking price for this example, especially being gold-plated and slightly overpolished. I'd look elsewhere. You can get a much nicer watch for that much money and a lot more watch.

One thing to point out though: That one is an absolute PEACH and the crosshair dial makes it even more valuable. So OP: Don't use that one as a guide on price other than "one way more desirable and nice sold for less than $900".

I got a feeling that unless they are willing to half their price (at least) they are going to continue to have that for a VERY long time.

Pawn shops are always overpriced. Look elsewhere
