Sea Dweller 1984 question

Hello !

i am puzzled why the dial is not with little metal marks around the hours . Here the lume is very similar to the 1970s and yet it is supposed to be 1984.


Any explanations ?

The first 16660’s had a matte dial with painted hour markers. Glossy dials with applied hour markers came later.

This is a transitional Sea-Dweller ref. 16660 with matte dial (aka ‘Triple Six’). The transition to WG surrounds starts around the 8.4M range, in line with what we see on the GMT-Master ref. 16750.

Here is another 8.0 example: full set and unpolished.
