·Just thought why not start a thread to focus on Royce and Eska watches--which has always been my focus in collecting. I often get asked why Royce, or why Eska--to this I have no answer other than why not. Eska was founded in 1922 by Sylvan Kocher in Grenchen--Eska stands for the phonetic pronunciation of his initials "S.K." (pretty witty eh?) Generally Eska/Royce watches can be snagged at affordable prices, and the brand has quote the portfolio.. stretching from insane Eska cloisonne dialed watches, Eska Split-second chronograph, Eska Jump Hour, etc. Royce dialed watches are also the brainchild of Walter Kocher, and was used to sell primarily, or at first anyways in the US market through New York--aka the export brand. Royce watches are all over the place in design/movement/tool watch etc. They have some awesome chronographs and a couple real special diver's. One sought after watch that some may actually recognize is the Eska "Amphibian 600," from the 1960's as Roy Rogers was known and photographed wearing one; it sports a Huge and unusual acrylic bezel, automatic watch. The most likely well known Royce watch is the Automatic Professional Marine, monster of a watch with the crown being up @ 12:00 and recessed- with a screw back case and hooded flexible lugs! These watches were mainly used by French NAVY oddly enough, and were made for professional divers--they are HUGE,coming in 46 across × 62.5 mm lug to lug. Since i have covered probably the two most notable Eska and Royce watches, let me reiterate that there are hundreds of other just as cool and often affordable models out there! I have been collecting both brands for 4-5 years and have seen quite a variation of lovely vintage looking watches. The Royce brand name/logo is currently officially owned by Tutima Glashütte/SA. I will share some of my collection going forward in the days and weeks to come, anyone else out there fancy Royce or Eska? Maybe i am not the only one.
Cheers!
