Questions for Watchco SM300 owners

One misnomer is that the 1963-1970 Seamaster 300 only shipped with the 1039 flat link bracelet with the blingy polished outer links.

But there is ample evidence to confirm that Omega was also shipping the 300 with the newer 1116 bracelet as early as 1967.

In fact, it appears the 300 was shipping with either bracelet for the last couple years of production.

I tried a 3861 (1116 replica) bracelet on a Watchco and it wore fine and maintains the original late 1960s factory look.

The 1116 is a historically correct alternative on a late 60s 300 if you don't want the highly reflective bling of the 1039.

Factory bracelets? Not bracelets as determined at point of sale like Speedies?

So the consumer selected their own bracelet from Omega?

Yes, at the point of sale.

Very interesting. What year did Omega shift to a business model where the bracelet was pre-installed on the watch and there was no point of sale choice of bracelet?

The truth is somewhere in the middle though isn’t it. Yea the consumer could choose their own bracelet, but only from a list of ‘factory’ options or generic alternatives.
You couldn’t for example choose a beads of rice bracelet for your SM300 as No Endlinks would allow that configuration.

I was under the impression that speedy endlinks work on the 300.

I think that’s probably right, we see the 1506/16 used on both so some bracelets are common across different references. What I mean though, is the buyer can only choose from a defined list of options. They couldn’t choose any bracelet from Omega

Did you send a pic to get the extract? If not then all good, if you did then I wouldn't set much store by that.

Nowdays you must upload 2 pics to get the extract. I always give just watch head photos.
Still any doubts?
